Watching him (on YouTube admittedly), looks like one of those players who you look at and think could make it in league (Brown, Ford, Farrell, Halfpenny to name few) but only time will tell with fitness etc., and whether that's a reality.

That is an interesting poser though, who was the last decent union convert to league without having first played league before coming back? Gareth Thomas and Andy Powell hardly at the world alight. Can't even think of anyone else other than fringe players.

There’s loads of players that could make it in League and the same from League to Union. You just need to select the right players.
Thomas was mid 30s I recall and wasn’t awful. Powell was an aging badly conditioned boozer who was released by a poor Sale side. He certainly had the raw tools, but was knackered after 2 mins!! Sale released a young lad Jordan Davies who went to Salford and played a bit. He’s back in lower league Union. No one any good with England international ambitions would move across. England players earn as much in the 6 nations as a highly paid league player sadly.

Gareth Thomas was good for crusaders IMO, he was a good player in a poor side unfortunately.

Which young lads? Our centres are Atkins, Goodwin and King. Atkins is coming to his end. And we currently have 59 year old Westwood playing Loose.

Burrell will play centre or loose. Atkins and Westwood to become deeper squad players.

I think Karl is really starting to do a good job as our CE. We all had reservations when he first came into the role but this is a great signing, a good way to get the most quality you can with the hindrance of a salary cap, a coup and good publicity for the sport!

Anyway, just watched a video on YouTube and Burrell seems to be able to throw the ball about well and runs good lines

Playing loose forward could be the answer. That might work pretty well.

great signing IMO...not on the cap and great PR, good business from Warrington. Looking at his size, second row for my money....depends how fast he is I guess. Big unit in the centres with serious pace has the potential to be very useful. Well done wires..AGAIN!! The board is doing some great stuff at the moment.

It's made national noises to rival Solomona and Charnley.

It really hasn’t, go on the BBC Rugby Union section and there isn’t even a single mention of it. That shows how much they care about it.

He was quick. Not sure if he’s retained that at 31. He’s been pretty injury free I think and he will lose a bit of bulk so could potentially quicken him up.

If he’s not counting towards the cap then it has to be good business. If it doesn’t work out. No harm done. If it does then we have a like for like replacement for Atkins.

Yeah sounds about right . Never played rugby league before so he should slot right in at that easy position loose forward at 31.
We will see if he is a good signing in due course but for young lads at Warrington it must be hard to take that’s the point I’m trying to make , Rochdale with be happy though

almost a risk free signing.... He could spend a full season, with it not having worked out, and walk away having not counted on the salary cap.

or he could be a solid signing, whom we get unbelievable value from.
