Why what did he say? I'd stopped watching at that point, chortling at the image of Dr Noclass looking furious and going to find a cleaner to sack.

Well, it was justified to be fair. They clearly want to play for him and whatever he said at half-time was taken onboard and carried out to the letter.
They've got some gems coming through there and Salford certainly, but a few other clubs as well, should take note.

I was very impressed with his interview, too. I already regard him fairly highly as a coach; he really knows how get a performance out of his players, regardless of who they are.

| With the young talent at the club Wigan could soon be entering a phase that will equal any of their other hay days & hopefully with all home grown players. For that you can only wish them good luck.

Dreadful match. At first I thought Saints were good and Hudds were sh*te now I've decided that Saints are average and Huddersfield are absolutely, utterly dreadful.
Throw Silverwood into the mix and I think I'll switch over to re-runs of Midsomer Murders.

| Danny Brough looks a deeply, deeply frustrated and unhappy player and one who knows his chances of winning a final with that team are virtually zero.
Just thought I'd mention it. Personally I prefer Myler.

Not sure whether it was his decision to always kick high rather than on the ground in the first half but that certainly contributed to some of the cr4p played. Not Dannys best game by a long chalk.

RL IS the greatest team sport around. More honest and skillful than football, more urgent and vibrant than RU but it is undeniably true that the quality of games in Britain seems to vary so much you'd swear some teams were playing a different game.
Huddersfield and Salford are good illustrations of this. Huddersfield's momentum has come to a shudderring halt and irrespective of any level of success the club achieves they never seem able to translate it into growth of the field. Salford, meanwhile, have an owner who throws money at aging players, slags the games ruling bodies off at every opportunity, verbally assaults opposition coaches on social networks, chops and changes his staff on a whim but who, in terms of attracting the paying public to participate in his revoloution, has been the biggest failure of the lot.
Irrespective of what Stevo or I think, the sad fact is sp terraces are increasingly becoming the norm at televised games. I don't think that's because people are going to watch other sports instead of RL due to the quality, l they are either DOING something else other than watch sports or changing their playing/watching habits.

I'd disagree with you on it being the greatest team sport, but won't go too deep into it for now - However, if people on here, who are RL's core audience, are slating the quality of the product, then is it little wonder that the sport constantly struggles to make an impact outside of its heartlands?
Mediocre matches played in poor atmospheres - Any channel hopper dropping accidently into Super League lately, isn't exactly going to be seduced into giving it a further go in much of a hurry?

Agreed. If you'd tuned into the Wigan Leeds game then the Saints London or Saints Huddersfield game you'd think you were watching two different sports. That discrepancy in quality is getting larger and is why attendances are dwindling and we still lack the intensity required to beat the Aussies.

Football is the greatest Team Sport? millions will tune Into the World Cup and will talk about it non stop whether it be the turgid drivel Bosnia v Iran will spew out with 20 odd players that no one has ever heard of. Or whether it will be the one sided Argentina v Bosnia. Even the whole world of Football can only produce 4 teams capable of wining this tournament.
I hate how Rugby League fans run down our own game at every opportunity we've been unlucky that Salford and London have been on TV a bit recently and When Saints played Wire they became for one night only the worst sporting side ever. But even My union watching mate at work although he laughed at the Salford v Wigan game realised it wasn't the norm.

| The football World Cup isn't dependent on great football, its only really the hardcore fans that are bothered about 'the beautiful game'. The World Cup that really kicked off football to another level in England was the 1990 World Cup which was probably the worst in my lifetime for the calibre of matches: every game was 0-0 or 1-0, littered with fouls. Jack Charlton's great Irish heroes that made the quarter finals were the most boring side in history and didn't win one game. I think the only game England won in 90 minutes was against Egypt and we made it to the semis.
In rugby league the complaints you are hearing about the style of play are from hardcore rugby league fans that have seen better in recent years. They aren't comparing RL to other sports, but comparing to RL they have seen in the past. You must know yourself where they are coming from: if you have watched the great teams of the past where Warrington with John Woods, Brian Johnson, Mike Gregory and so on played in a league where they were only mid table, and other sides had the likes of Hanley, Edwards, Andy Gregory, Offiah, Davies, Schofield......and look at what is on offer today. When you see the Saints side of today battling for top spot and the reigning double winners Wigan do you look down that team and say this is an era that will go down in history or do you say, RL has seen better days...

| The end product of SL is basically no different to the Premier League in football with 4 or 5 teams in with a realistic chance of lifting a trophy ,the real excitement for teams outside these levels is only felt at local levels & in the relegation dogfight. I think that is why football in particular is awash with pundits to try & talk up a bit of interest in the games.
What seems to be happening in RL at the moment is that the crossing rule is being applied so vigorously that it is stifling open play by producing too many penalties ,may be the game is crying out for coaches to avoid this by changing styles of play. Using dummy runners at the minute is crying out for a penalty & maybe the RL, the refs & coaches need to get round the table.

Did you watch Chelsea and the reigning Champions of the premier League this season and think these are two sides that will go down in history or did you think the premier league had seen better days..
When you see a team that has been Rank average for years with a coach who has done nothing of note in his career take his side near the top of the league do you think Castleford are in a false position in the league and RL has seen better days or did you think Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool were making the premier league look bad and it has seen better days.
It was annoying that James Graham and Sam Tomkins bitch slapping each other last week was in an NRL game and not a wigan saints game. yes we have a problem losing our big stars, is our game ..not as as other sports...
just my opinion though..
