Why did it close? Was there a valid reason or was it just because of the standards not being met? Where are all the kids going to, has another school opened? A couple of weeks ago I was watching my lad play football on Woolston Park and there were huge gangs of Woolston High school kids having brawls with another school, presumably Birchwood or Newman? (Blue tie, two white diagonal lines across it). There must have been as many as 250 kids involved, most stood around finding it really exciting and filming on their mobiles, particularly girls.

Andy Funnel was a top bloke. The 2 drama teachers, Ian McCormack and Chris Eyres, made a cracking song up about him having a false leg and a glass eye and other removable body parts, just to wind up all the girls who fancied him! |

 No, I happened to walk right through it, didn't dare get my phone out in case the scallywags stole it. I have never felt as old or out of place ever. I thought at the time it must have been last day of school drinks, but then some lad came past missing the skin off his knuckles and another with blood all over his shirt and they all stampeded off as another big fight started. Funny thing was they were all really polite to the people walking their dogs etc. |

I believe the reason was falling birth rates and thus, the school was under subscribed, if memory serves. Most of the prospective students will be going to Lysander I think.
