Do you think this could be the problem, they are doing that much training in the week, they run out of gas during the actual game, or am I clutching at straws here..
Maybe.
I have to say, after the tame capitulation last season, and the way that the season just fizzled out (Hull KR at home, Castleford away primarily), I quite liked the idea of them having a grueling preseason, so I can't really backtrack on that now. I thought the idea of a few of them getting a wake up call and flogged a bit was what they needed.
I wouldn't want to see them flogged now though, except King.

| Well ive heard that Jimmy has lost at least one part of the dressing room.
It seems that we have a group of players all pulling in different directions.
We all know in team sports it is essential that all parties pull in the same direction to get a shot at success. If Jimmy cant sort it out and fast then he needs to go.
If certain individuals are not willing to back jimmy and what he wants to do then they should be frozen out. But will Jimmy have the gonads to freeze them out.
I would rather have half a team of younger players who want to play and are willing to give it their all rather than half a team of passengers who are sulking for one reason or another.
I keep harping back to David Moyes but if an Everton player starts going against the grain they are frozen out until they are ready to toe the line or they find themselves a new club. No messing about and its a zero tolerance policy. Maybe Jimmy needs to have a word with Moyes about how to instill discipline and team ethics.

Rumours this happened to PC also. Been reading Mike Gregs book again and I can't help but think what would have happened to the players if they did this under Mal Reilly.

| good point i think there is a general lack of discipline within rl, even the disciplinarians amongst rl coaching ranks don't seem anywhere near as strict as in football
and some of the stories i've heard about the discipline from the more relaxed coaches are hilarious, especially relating to andy gregory...i guess because we are not in media spotlight as much as football people can get away with it

Anyone who has taken part in sports training at whatever level knows that the training cycle involves a period of building the training up to very tough levels and then maintaining those levels untill you are ready to taper it down ready for competition.
Its quite plausible that the wolves are still training tough and will only taper for the second half of the season ie, the business end. Its still possible to achieve results and a certain level of performance when you are training tough but maybe its a bit too tough at this point in the season. The players may well be leaving their performances on the training paddock or in the gym, which from personal experience, is very frustrating.
Maybe something needs to be tweaked.

The info I had about what occured in the dressing room after the Catalans game does not bode well for Jimmy, the club and the 2009 season.
I think certain players (higher profile) want Jimmy out and wont play properly till he has gone.
It begs the question what the hell is the captain Morley doing? He is a well known supporter of Jimmy and surely its his role as captain to keep all the players onside, so to speak.
I have sympathy for Jimmy in certain respects. I dont think he is experienced enough for this job but he is definitely not getting full support from his charges which doesn't help his cause.

| [iIt's like I say, a lack of mental strength has been our undoing in recent years. We are aware of this, it's being rectified, we are getting there but it is one of those working processes.[/i
This is what I don't understand, if you look at players like King, Higham, Morley, even the coach himself, they are all guys who have achieved great things in RL.
Are we now to believe they have 'lost' this mental strength that they must have once possessed. And if so, how has this happened! Surely you would have the opposite would be true, that there winning spirit/desire/mentality would shine through to the rest of the players.

Well to say ive heard all that before is an understatement.
Also, my source certainly wouldn't concur with what Morley states about the whole team being behind Lowes.
Well done to Morley for attempting to diffuse the situation though, lets hope we get the right reaction at Wakey.

| At the end of the day all these stories of discontent in the camp are based on hearsay and rumour which people will believe if they want to, nobody really knows what is true.
All you can really make a judgement on is the unarguable facts, my judgement that Lowes is not up to the job is based on the fact he's lost seven straight games and the team is consistently putting in poor performances.
The team could be as tight knit and supportive of him as any set of players in the league but those results say he's not up to the task.

Or the players aren't upto the task.
