Generally most people will say they are from the place they grew up in; say from ages 6-14. My missus was born in Liverpool and moved out when she was around five. She'd always say she was from Widnes though.

Ian Brown isn't from Warrington. He's from Timperley in Trafford.

He lived on Sylvan Avenue in Timperley throughout his childhood (which is round the corner from me). John Squire lived on the same road. Lots of both of their families still live around Timperley now, Ian Brown's cousin is married to the son of one of my neighbours and another cousin of his is us a mutual friend of one of my mates. I think he might have been born in Warrington but that's about it.
