I can't believe some of your fans don't rate Ratchford.

In my opinion he is absolute quality and like some mentioned a few pages earlier, one of SLs finest players. I'd have him at Hull FC in a heartbeat. Speaking of which, when we played you guys for the LLS, Ratchford had a great game and I think we would have beaten you had he not been in the team. Just my opinion of course.

Anyway I was hoping you'd have won the GF on Saturday but you were just lacking some go-forward and maybe some game management in the second half. Get a couple of good props and you'll be ok. Also FWIW, I thought you were quite unlucky not to win the CC but obviously no regrets on my behalf

I know that it doesn't fit our negative reaction on here that we've got at the moment Rodney but I agree with you.

No I think that we acknowledge his abilities and he is a good player, however not worth shuffling people around to fit him in to the team. He is a luxury player who's wages could be utilised better. Let's not forget for every good game he has he has am anonymous one also and is prone to too many dropped balls because he refuses to carry the ball properly/securely.

In a realistic world (What I think the club could achieve/buy), I'd have:

"No" "shuffling people around to accommodate him" surely the opposite is true? Russell as a returning FB works if he can make a catch and he can't so we put him out wide. Gidley could play FB but is needed in the middle where we are light. There are shouts for a bench spot so he can spell Clark or get him to put a few pounds on play him as a ball handling 13.

Yes all of this is Ratchford's fault I agree he should stop the one handed stuff but I wish he'd bugger off right now.............back to stand off, or centre would be my ideal IF we had a FB. Johnson might make it, we may buy one, we could have tried a switch with Evans or built Russell's confidence up under a bomb.

I really don't get the lack of respect for Ratchford. The team hasn't been shuffled to accommodate him, it's been the other way round. He should be 6 and Gidley at 1. Being at fab would possibly give Gidley a bit of extra thinking time which would benefit his "game management.
I like Russell and his metre making from full back but there is more to that position now (eg who would you rather defended a high kick at full back?).
I do think Rhys Evans is limited at centre and a specialist winger is also required assuming TS is about to bin Penny off (which is a crying shame ).

Why is Evans limited at centre ? If Warrington more often than not attack to the left, it's going to be hard for him to score playing on the opposite side. He reads the game very well and puts in big defensive efforts. Games are won on defence.

He is limited because he doesn't know what to do with the ball in an attacking position and that is a core skill for a centre, if we can't attack we can't score, it's scoring more than your opponents that actually wins games.

We have off loaded one of the king brothers. And the other one isnt much better

Must admit I can't ever remember Atkins and King 'swapping' between wing and centre. King was always outside Atkins to my knowledge.

And Wilde starting at second row in some people's starting 17's for next season? Got to be doing better than that for me, much better. Still a long way off a starting spot on a regular basis even considering Currie's long term injury.

We probably attack more to the left as we have a centre there who can actually threaten opponents with offensive running. Evans would not get in Hull's, Saint's, Leed's or Wigan's side and is not good enough for ours either if we want to be a number 1 side. 4 tries all season is a dismal return.

The structured attack is to the left and nothing to do with your throw away comment about threatening the line.

He has no rugby brain whatsoever, he has terrible footwork, he cannot beat a man and he doesn't know when to pass and when not to pass... he doesn't know how to run a line.

In all the time R Evans has played at the Wire I have tried to find a redeeming factor about his play and apart from some improved defence I cant say that I have found any. No pace, no decision making, can't see a pass and always get caught with the ball under the wrong arm for an off load.

For me move Ratch to centre Russell to FB and Penny to wing and we have a better more attacking back line.
