| Big loose and a right centre surely the priorities now? Grix, Monas & GOB leaving should leave a good chunk of cap space for two new players..

Are we not missing something here? In the cases of Joel and GOB, it has been the clubs decision to release them with a year left on their contracts. Unless they were prepared to walk away from those contracts then presumably we've had to reach settlements with them.
I think we certainly need additional recruitment as you suggest but wonder what's left in the pot. If we don't buy anyone else our right centre options would be Evans, Wheeler and King. I suppose if we got a third of a season each out of the first 2 that would give King a few games to bring him on..........

There is also the option of Jack Hughes, Currie & Ratchford at right centre. As long as it is not Wheeler.

| Evans/Wheeler are not the answer to any issue in the club both too injury prone.
If Wheeler gets a gig next year with us then TS' mental state has to be questioned. Wheeler has done nothing to show he deserves an extension.
Currie has good hands and is fast for a big guy, Hughes is fast and a good defender. Is Hughes a better defender than Currie? I think Currie thinks and handles the ball better than Hughes, either one of these partnering Lineham will be good with the other one partnering the other winger.

I'm not sure whether their contracts had options in the clubs favour or not....?
When we signed JMonas, we paid Hicks a one off settlement figure, which did not count on the 2011 salary cap as Hicks did not play in the 2011 season that he was contracted for. So there is a precedent already set for this....?
Plus O'Brien & Monas may already have two year deals sorted for 2016 elsewhere, so a pay off may not be needed?

Latest Guardian story suggests the club have made a decision to release him early, so certainly wasn't his call.
This is a proper dead wood culling exercise. Gutted for Joel in some respects but club wise I think we are doing right.

| so, the squad for next year now is
Atkins
clark
currie
dwyer
england
evans b
evans r
harrison
hill
johnson
king g
king t
laithwaite
patton
penny
philbin
ratchford
russell
sandow
sims
westwood
wilde
plus
Gidley
Lineham
Hughes
Dodds
So 26 players there, i'd discount Wilde and Johnson at this point from the full first team squad, 24, that doesn't look a great squad at the moment, looks lopsided and will take some more signings as mentioned already to address a few issues or some positional changes as also already mentioned to level it out.
TBH i'd forgotten about laithwaite while typing this out. Whilst i've no idea if hes got the same issues as grix, we could well not be seeing him till half way through the season.

We must have offered him a contract, otherwise he would have been mentioned as leaving this week, ahead of the final home game of the season.

| We're proberbly keeping him for right centre or just a back up utility player maybe. He could learn a lot off gidley as could ratchford, he won't cost us a lot and he is a quality player on his day. It would be the smart move if we have loads of injuries, and I hope we haven't shipped Ben Evans off to widnes. He's a good forward and getting rid of yet another forward would be dumb as we don't have an abundance of them. I hope king gets more game time next year as I really like him and think he's a decent forward already.

Dodds is a fair size, and if he partners Hill, and the interchanges are England and Sims with Westwood, Harrison and Currie in the back row that's a decent pack on paper. ..... they just need a bit of controlled nastiness in em. ..they shouldn't be getting bullied. ..
I'd have liked a big prop and have sims in the second row to be honest.
I think Currie has to go in the centres for me.

| Then after a couple of weeks England & Harrison injured ,Sims suspended & back to this years situation. We might do better with a plan of throwing the ball about more from tackle 1 instead of 5 forward drives then a panic play.

As a long shot you could drop Cory Paterson in there, not everyone's cup of tea I know, but would add grunt along with a decent off load or two.

| I agree, if we put Paterson in there, it would look a really good, tough pack, ideal for Sandow etc to create some magic.
