You have the internet at your finger tips, why would you not research sites like Orange, Carphone warehouse, Vodafone and gsmarena. You say you are not great with technology, you can post on a forum so I can’t see why you can’t research something you are looking to invest in.

The Iphone is the ducks nuts and like one poster said, it becomes an obsession.

I had researched this obviously. I wanted to see what prices people who had an iPhone had purchased theres for so i could look into it. The cheapest one.

Iphone all the way. All the others stay next best thing and try to beat the iphone, I fell for that last year and got the latest samsung smartphone touted iphone killer. Yeh right until you get an iphone.
Mines just the 3g 8gb and does the job superb. O2 currently do reconditioned ones still with one year warranty but with a reduced contract price.
As for insurance check your current account as a lot include mobile phone insurance. Mines with lloyds and covers the iphone free with bank account.
It will become an obsession though and it will go everywhere with you. It will never be out of your hand.
Don't go for any other phone if your thinking of getting an iphone, just get the iphone you won't be dissapointed.

Don’t think the Iphone is flawless, it's not. Fortunately the plus points out way the minuses.

I've got the xperia x10, which is superb and much cheaper line rental and cost of the phone itself.

What I will say is the apps are better on the iphone but the internet on the x10 is lightening on wifi due to the 1ghz processor. Also if you are a social nerworking fiend then the x10 is also superb. Look up sony ericsson timescape.

The mp3 player is obvously better on the iphone as It's an ipod. However the sony isn't far behind.

The camera and video on the x10 is light years ahead and when it gets the android 2.x update in september it will be hd.

If that doesn't help and still want the iphone then I would wait anyway as a new one is on the horizon.

Will be the best phone you buy. I am crap with technology, and i only just got my email address. It is really user friendly and all the apps are brilliant, I am with O2 phone was free and think pay 25 a month, you get free unlimited download on internet

I phone 4 is built and they are working on / tweaking the software.

I had the HTC Magic before I got my iphone 3gs 16gb and the iphone is lightyears ahead of the HTC and the google android opperating system imo.

The Ipod just works (as long as you dont rely on group texting as the I phone will not do that) and the apps available go from good - wiered - sublime.

I am on a vodaphone business contract, £45pm Unlimited text, 5gb Data and 1200 cross network minutes.

I am on the net constantly on it looking for tech resolutions and also on facebook and twitter / youtube etc and I havent gone outside of the allocation, nor have I exceeded the call bundle so my bill has been £45 every month as I had hoped.

The version 4 will be out this year so if you can hang on you will then be first with a 4 or you will pick up a 3gs much cheaper.

It's an expensive package when you have to purhcase Apps aswell.

I would say Iphones biggest let down are:

Battery life
No Bluetooth function
Camera Quality

One thing that really gets on my goat is when you are watching a video, or playing a game and you get a text it pauses what you are in the middle of. But like I say loads of great stuff on it.

I was thinking of getting myself an i-fruitbowl. Same as a bog standard fruit bowl but they charge me 4 x whats its worth just coz its got an apple on the top.

HTC Desire/Legend are both better than an iPhone. Look for anything running on android.

great phone mate, i got the 16GB 3GS best phone i have ever had, alot better than the original 8GB! GET ONE!!!!

Wait for version 4 to come out, it will have a better camera with a flash, front facing camera for video calling (if you like that sort of thing), possibly have an oled screen, bigger processor, and the all new operating system 4 allowing multiple app use...this will be available for 3g iphone users as an update

iPhone's are aweseome. Expensive normally but worth it, especially if you already use an iPod.

i've had an iphone for 2 years and just got an HTC desire.

the desire makes the iphone feel old tech both the hardware and the os

however both are amzing phones and to say one is better than the other depends on preference.

wanna buy my 1 year old (replaced under warranty) 2g iphone to see how you like it before committing to a contract you'll be able to sell it for little to no loss....

Battery does seem to drain a lot esp with Wifi and 3G enabled.

I have Bluetooth on mine, both data and handsfree/audio.

The camera is not the best though I agree.

But the fact that "it just works" is a big thing for me.

Ive just bought the HTC Desire, i just felt that the Nexus One didn`t warrant the extra money for basically one more microphone and noise reduction. The only downside of buying an HTC phone ahead of the Nexus One even though they are both made by HTC is that the Google Nexus one will get Android 2.2 far quicker than HTC will release it for their own range of phones. Apparently Android 2.2 will operate 400% quicker than 2.1 or any earlier releases.

HTC are not exactly quick at releasing updates, i just wanted to be different from the crowd as it seems like almost every hunt as got an iphone.
