| I wish him well, but it's better for Wire if he leaves at the end of this season.
We need a coach who wants to stay here.

Agree, it seemed pretty clear at one stage he was off, now that’s fallen through it kind of looks like let’s wait and see what happens here. If the ambition is still the NRL he as a lot of work to do and winning on Saturday is not enough for me personally. Yes it’s great that we have had success in the cup and been in many finals since 09 but it’s the big prize we want and need and with the emergence of HKR and Hull coming up it’s only going to get harder.

I think that we usually agree and on a range of issues, but I'm not sure that I do in this instance which of course is OK. I haven't read the article but I'd say that all we can ask is that he sees out his contract, unless of course it's by 'mutual agreement'. I understand that there could be distractions relating to known term contracts but the same uncertainty could be performance led as was the case with his predecessor. At least this way the Club have no excuse getting Sam's successor lined up as a target at least, carry out a bit of due diligence.

I'm uncomfortable with the rumour about the police complaint about the conduct of the players AND the Wire coaching staff around Warrington , combined with the fiasco that went on in Vegas. The Board of Directors don't seem to have any control of Burgess and that's why I would prefer if he left and got a job in the NRL He has not hidden the fact that he wants a gig in Aus. and I would prefer if he left and we could move on without him.

I think there's nothing worse than when a player signs for another team halfway through a season, look at Daryl Clark the other year. Every man and his dog knew he was going to Royston Vasey RLFC. Where's his incentive to bust his backside on his way out of a club? Same can occur with a coach. If he knows he's off somewhere, why do we want to keep SB here for a year of resentment and frustration? Of course, I'm usually wrong. 2026 could be "Our Year" and the real making of him as an NRL caliber coach.

Yes that fixed term can provide an unacceptable level of comfort for the coach and his players and perhaps spill into ongoing recruitment. I know it might be expecting too much but if this is his NRL interview then we can hope that he makes the most of it. We always knew his appointment was on these terms. The problem that we have is this year's drop off in form and alleged unprofessional behaviour. The club should be all over this and do their utmost collectively to stamp this type of thing out and get the best out of Sam's run in. We've been here before dissapointigly and that'd be the first thing that should have been fixed. There's no hiding place for bad off field behaviour it's out there even for an exile like me

Depends on the player/coach and their mindset. If they are the type who mentally goes on holiday when they've agreed to move on after the season, they probably aren't the type who you were going to win stuff with anyway. Remember that last Bradford Bulls title winning season, 20 years ago now. They were treading water mid way through the season then they announced that Peacock, Leon Pryce, Radford and Robbie Paul were leaving for other clubs at the end of the year. They all rallied together to make sure they went out as champions. If Warrington were treading water mid way through a season and four senior players announced they were leaving we'd just go into a tail spin and blame it on the players mentally checking out.

| Lots of people leave jobs (sporting or otherwise) and give 6 months/year notice. This does not mean that they suddenly don't care. It is a bit of nonsense to suggest that if someone is moving on in the future then they need leave at once.

| Exactly, but this is Sam Burgess. It’s not like he’s got form for singing with a new club ahead of a new season, especially on the other side of the world. Bet if he did it, in like, 2014 for example, he would have slacked off all year.

Word is Mal Meninga got the Bears job.
So where does that leave his job as Australian head coach? He's quit. Freddie Fittler is the favourite for the job. NRL don't want a Kangaroo's coach with fingers in clubland.
