Quote: Fantastic Mr Catpiss "then you're gonna hve to start charging people to pay for the comedian, or whatever, and that'll be another excuse.

That said, i can't remember what your record is on attending these (not meant accusatory, you know what i mean) would what you've suggested above get you out the house and to one of these events?'"

I used to pay to squadbuilder each month but i'd rather not go into it why i stopped, no i wouldn't be interested in going down even if they had Phil Clarke tied to a wall where you could lob cow dung at him for 50p a go.

Just putting forward some things that may entice the average fan down rather than attending something that sounds a bit formal.

I'm just not sure people kind of get what it is, like what does it entail. What's my commitment, I know financially it's £5, but what about time wise etc and it's then you'll get folk who will question as has been pointed out now with the investment if their £5 is actually needed anymore.

I think with SqB, I'd almost be tempted to go the other way and play on this being a little bit elitist if i'm honest. I'd make a big play on the fact that if you don't join this, pay this, here's what you'll miss out on and ramp up on that, sort of you look after the clubs future and the club will look after you, and here's how :- (I've made these up)

* Monthly prize draw, make it like 'money can't buy' style prizes, so maybe a shirt, signed & presented by your favourite player or a press matchday experience, go early, sit in the press seats, attend the post match press conference, a day with the wolves, train and put cones out or whatever ..

* Quarterly updates from Smith, Moran etc on the club, interesting that you wouldn't normally know.

* Monthly training reports from Marshall, Bastian etc on who's gone well, what they're particularly pleased with etc, just their insight.

* Squadbuilder interview - each month you send in your questions, a dozen are selected and an interview formed with a player/coach etc.

* Ones to look out for, a profile of a an U'16, U'18 etc who might be one to keep an eye on etc ...

I'd almost have it where you'd hear people saying "Where did you hear that ..." or "How did you get to do that?"

It's like, you guys pay £10 a year, you guys want to be closer to the club than the average fan does on a daily basis, so here you go ... Almost appeal to the nerdier fans, which by being on here I think we are for starters. I'd sort of move Squadbuilder to the people, rather than now the people have to come to it, more information coming to the way of the user, valuable, interesting information too and less reliance on getting off bums and attending events after days at work etc.

Re the Squadbuilder thing, I often consider joining up, but never quite get round to it. Prompted by this thread I had a look at the SB webpage, where its last documented 'achievement' was in the summer of 2008. I know these things are developmental and take time and so on, but if I had been paying a fiver a month for the last three years, I think I'd have liked a bit more detail about what the cash is being used for (as mentioned by someone else further up the page).
Not a criticism, as such, more an observation.

move the big screen, suspend it on wires in thenorth west corner of the ground, so that you can walk underneath it, between the two stands, making it much more visable for most fans, not taking up any more room and complimenting the filled in corners when they are complete, and three pint glasses! a higher profile for squad builder on match days ie, flyers and tannoy annoucements pre & post match local pubs to put posters up advertising sqbuilder and monthly prizes for membership.

my favourite idea is, you know the camera placement in the east stand, when it's not being used for tv covarage, get bensons for beds to put a bed in that space and raffle the right to watch the match whilst in bed with free waitress service! i'd buy a ticket for that and turn up in my pj's for that! publicity all round !!

With regards to the SB, it is something i have considered in the past but dont really know:

A)What my money goes towards.
B)What my membership brings to me benifits/commitments/responsibilities

Now, for the amount of money involved, i wouldn't be that fussed if the benifits that membership bring to me are very minimal if i knew that my money was a big benifit to the club.

It's kinda the same with the Supporters Trust, what is it and what do i get/do by being involved?

SEB, i know you're probably the man for these questions but if it is something i would really be keen on, and i imagine my dad (who i always have gone to games with since being small) could be sold on it easily too.

Quote: Rob Wire "This is a constructive thread just to see how we could improve as a club both on and off the pitch, at the min were obviously doing the majority of things right but that doesn't stop you wanting to improve as a business.

1. I think the club shop should be bigger with a greater range of clothing, maybe a good range of NRL gear and international test shirts. The current shop is ok but its very small given how far we have progressed as a club, the way a lot of the things are laid out especially in the middle could be better.

At the end of the day any business relies on its revenue, i just think the club shop and merchandising could be improved quite a bit, in my experiences the staff have been fine though, polite with a smile etc

2. I don't know how the links are these days with the amatuer game but they didn't used to be the best, if thats improved then fair enough.

I'll just kick off with those 2, i'm sure people have their own opinions on how we can improve.'"

There will be annual reports presented at tonight's AGM. If no-one else does it before I get chance, I'll put some of the highlights from them on here.

Answers to Finsbury Wire in blue below

SEB, i know you're probably the man for these questions but if it is something i would really be keen on, and i imagine my dad (who i always have gone to games with since being small) could be sold on it easily too.

I hope the above (very quickly written!) snapshot goes someway to encouraging you and your dad and indeed everyone else reading this to give some consideration towards joining. Last night's AGM with a panel of Andy Gatcliffe, Ralph Rimmer and John Bastian provided excellent direct access to the people and issues at the top of our club and the game in general and lots of interesting stuff was discussed, including at least one bit of exclusive, excellent news. Hopefully a full report on last night will follow, I was only able to attend the first half.

I am always wary of writing stuff like this because I worry I'll miss something important out but Finsbury Wire asked some direct questions so I wanted to give something in return. We are thinking of starting a newsletter (something we have thought about before) - perhaps new or current members might be able to help out with things like that?

Any other questions just ask and me or one of the many other Trust board members will glady answer.

Quote: Rob Wire "Squadbuilder comes across as being very formal where you want people to turn up to meetings etc, the average fan isn't into attending things like meetings and asking questions as again it sounds very formal.'"

Last night was our AGM - which I accept may sound formal. However, despite that title it most certainly was not. All fans had to do was wander into the room, take a seat (or visit the bar first!), and then be entertained and informed via exclusive access to people at the top of the club and the RFL. It was very relaxed and quite a few laughs in amongst the interesting information. If you want to ask a question you can, or you can write them down for others to ask or just listen to others ask questions.

It really should appeal to a wide section of our fans.

The only issue I have is how much notice we're given for functions etc. I appreciate it that it's hard to organize etc. The one's I've attended have always been very enjoyable.

Its main aim is to strengthen the bonds between Warrington Wolves and all the people of the Warrington area, and to promote the game of Rugby League as both a participation activity and a spectator sport at all levels.

I agree with everything that Steve has said above. On its initial inception that is what squadbuilder stood for. What it actually means is that any money will be used to develop the elite kids at each age group. No funding has to my knowledge in the last 2 or 3 years gone to any kind of community group to help increase participation or spectator levels.

Advertisment of what it actually does needs to be improved as does its mission statement. A record of where the money is being spent should be produced on a regular basis.
