| Quote: gary numan "You're right, we aren't going to agree on this. Having not seen (or noticed) a lot of myler previously i used last night's game to watch his play. I have to say his involement in the first half was nominal. He took his tries very well in the second half and i believe he will score a lot of tries for us. I can see him being on hand when a break is made which is a talent in itself. When i say Eastmond and Tomkins being miles ahead is that they have a more rounded game offering more options to their team mates. Myler hasn't played much lately and i'm hoping it's just a case of feeling his way back into the game.
I'm presuming Burrows is unavailable as he is imo the better option still at scrum half for England'"
I agree with you, if you took Myler`s 2 tries away last night then in my opinion he didn`t offer a great deal, one of his tries was a run in created by some great play from Kevin Sinfield and the other was from some french defending that wouldn`t look out of place in an under 11`s game, granted he took his 2nd try well but if England had conceded that same try we would be questioning our defence in a big way.
He was given the chance ahead of Sam Tomkins for his apparent organisational skills and that he would lead us round the pitch better, i`m sorry but i didn`t see much evidence of either. I`ll say what ive said in the past about Richie Myler, he seems to be a very good support player that will run off the shoulder of the ball carrier and he has a good short kicking game which we havn`t seen much of in the last 2 games.
Brian Carney said himself that Richie Myler had been given the chance ahead of Sam Tomkins to get into first reciever more and to control the game but he didn`t seem to be doing that, Carney went on to say that Myler needs to be doing this to retain his place and to show Tony Smith that he is capable of controlling a game at this sort of level.
I like Brian Carney didn`t see much evidence of Richie Myler getting into first reciever on a regular basis and barking out the orders, it took Kevin Sinfield to step up from loose and quite a few occasions to get us going forward.
Sky said that Rob Burrow had been left out of the squad purely because Tony Smith didn`t pick him, they said it wasn`t because of any kind of injury. Personally i think Danny Brough would do a better job than what we have at present as he is a more seasoned pro that is a good organiser, he isn`t affraid to shout the instructions and he can lead his team around the pitch and he has a decent kicking game which both our half backs seemed to lack last night.
I`m sure Myler will do a decent job for Warrington and i`ll be right behind him, i just don`t think we have any scrum half thats ready for the international scene just yet after Rob Burrow and possibly Danny Brough.

You sir are the most knowledgable and honest wire fan in history!
The rest appear blind that wire fans are the only ones defending Myler and Smith.

This is why you should be banned off our forum. You sh[ii[/it stir, then go off taring everybody with the same brush. You have your opinion, so do others, just because people don't agree with you, it doesn't mean people are blind or silly like you keep persisting with, it's because they disagree with you and have their own opinions.

| Having just witnessed that game, Myler, Tomkins, Nelson Mandella. It is irrelevant.

Sam's tactical positioning would easily shut down the Aussies.

Great post.
Myler had a better second half than the first half, but I really don't understand what TS is wanting him to do, if he's there to organise then let him do it and don't make it the McGuire + Sinfield show as neither of them stepped upto the mark against France imo.
Burrow (and i'm painfully aware of Burrow's failings in internationals) or Brough would have been a better option, but we are where we are.
Lets hope that if we continue to play with the same structure, that McGuire and Sinfield can step up to the plate and actually deliver internationally what they've done so well at club level (I know that's harsh on McGuire as to be fair he's been far better than Sinfield on the international stage).
In an ideal world for me, Tomkins + Myler at 6&7 with Eastmond at FB or centre - I just think it's too soon for the 3 of them to have to run it for England yet. Sinfield at 13 until their kicking games develop further and we can get a hooker who can kick as well as scoot (really our scooters need to take at look at the NRL and figure out what a hooker is actually supposed to do)

How did you come to the conclusion that Tomkins and Eastmond are better then?
