| The board are there to hold the executive to account. The executive, in certain elements, had been making progress. New training facilities, PDRL teams (Adam Hills and all of his coverage) ladies team, social media reach etc. was all going well. But there is a detachment from all of those successes when the rugby side doesn’t get the job done. You can’t go sending funny twitter videos and get hammered at the weekend.
I’ve already stated that I think a Director of Rugby would be a beneficial appointment, someone who can work closely with the coaches (first, reserves, academy, pathways, ladies, PDRL) and report into the executive. It’s a big beast, a head coach can’t do it alone and a CEO can’t have real oversight while still running the ‘business’.

I disagree entirely with that last sentence. I do agree with the suggestion of changing the thread title though.

Didn’t we have someone between Andy Gatcliffe and Roger Draper?
EDIT: No, we didn’t. I just googled Draper.

Gatcliffe was a very professional and talented CEO for Wire and at the time I didn`t realise how good he was.
Draper was all hype and spin. Thankfully, he moved to RFL after only 1 year at Warrington and moved to RFL Headquarters

and he left from there round 12 months, or not much longer.
Now, i've pointed this out before, people criticizing karl's (lack of) background, but we had a top level in multiple sports CEO there, plenty of experience who came in, left us in a fair bit of debt, didn't do much retaining our principle sponsor in fly emirates (though granted they were cutting down on sponsors) and almost ostracised every other sponsor partner because he didn't like all the different advert boards around the stadium.
and he oversaw the signing of ryan bailey...

| Draper isn’t doing to bad now. He’ll be glad he doesn’t work at this circus anymore.

Most of our CEOs since I've been a fan, have been pretty dismal overall. Gatcliffe was the sole exception. He was also the one who said least to the media and had a relatively low key public image. But he knew how to run the club well on and off the field. Him leaving us was a bit of a watershed moment like David Dein leaving Arsenal. We've never been the same since.

| Don't know if he's on the board, but if he is he won't be sacked. Talking about the accountant. The way he's kept the club under the cap, with all the expensive signings, shows he's one man whose earned his keep. Think he's the longest serving official at the club.
