| Lord Tony Smith:Captain Hook:Lord Tony Smith:Mr Snoodle:
Wires71 & Smiffy - can you please just get a room! Do you have to derail every thread with your petty bitching at each other that no-one else is interested in?
Thing is, Wires71 is actually one of the best posters on here and speaks a lot of sense. Smiffy just can't take the club being criticised. We could be relegated and he'd still think we are prime Wigan in the 1980's. It it quite admirable to be fair. Bit of a circular argument really. People tend to think posters who reflect their own views are the best thing since sliced bread and the opposing view is rubbish. I don't think so. I've always thought he is pretty fair in his assessments. Gives credit when it’s there we have due and criticism when it's warranted. There isn't much to be upbeat about at the minute; losing back to back finals and 8th in the league whilst tweeting some daft gimmick about Wolfie four days after a cup loss, off season recruitment being diabolical, the Musgrove incident and the club receiving a letter from Cheshire Police, it's all a bit of a circus at the HJ at the moment. If people are happy with the club at the minute then I'd find it very surprising. And there we have it in a nutshell. We were a midge’s nadger from winning a CC final in which we were massive underdogs. Our season has been decimated by an unprecedented run of injuries, Pooh happens but get a few bodies back at the same time, build those combinations and we will improve. Musgrove…who cares? KF being KF (for the 1st time in a while).. who cares? I don’t know what the letter from Cheshire police is about so can’t comment.

| As Captain Hook has said , we have had a lot of injuries to contend with this year. Halfbacks, hooker , first choice forwards , centre ,winger & then our first choice youngsters who were supposedly being drip fed into the matchday squads have been thrown in at the deep end & have mostly coped well & have not shirked where effort has been concerned before being injured themselves. Many players are playing with injuries & just have to get on with it. My main concern is why we keep getting so many soft tissue injuries .... over training ,poor studs or foul play ? I don't know but it's no wonder we have been light on troops.

| Captain Hook:
I may not have been a Wire for as long as W71 (assuming that 71 is when he started supporting rather than when he was born) but it’s been quite a while and I think we need all the optimism we can muster otherwise we would be miserable most of the time!
I was born in 1971 and my Dad took me home and away from 1978 season. It was our thing and I loved going to all the games with him. I lost him in 1996 (he was 52) and the Wire remains a strong connection to those times. I'm not a super fan but I love the club that represents the birthplace of my family. Notice I said club as I have seen enough owners, coaches and players come and go to realise it is the fans that are the true custodians of the club. In my view those lucky enough to be employed by the club have a high responsibility to them to make it the best club it can be in both sporting performance and reputation, and yes they are subject to fans assessment of how they are delivering under that responsibility. But we don't all have to agree but I would never attempt to supress the views of others. We can disagree and still avoid personal insults if we are mature.

Smiffy's BitMy Dad took me to games too & we have a lot in common. The team had Brian Bevan in it. I was always going to be involved in sport. I probably don't expect such high standards as you from those employed by the club & fans differ so much that you'll never keep 'em all happy. I'm sure we'd get on fine together.

| Even though it's not directly Leeds Squad related, I was pleased to read some decent heartfelt posting about the right of passage and being a Wire. I'm mid way between Wires 71 and Smiffy by the sound of it (probably closer to Smiffy) and remember my first game with my dad at Wilderspool v Classy Cas and we lost!!! I'm now passing on the 'grin and bear it baton' to my two grandsons and I hope that they wouldn't have it any other way......
Tensions can invariably run high, differences of opinion whilst welcome can become more pronounced when the typing finger is cocked above the keyboard as opposed to a chat over a beer/cup of tea but let's not forget that ultimately we all crave the same thing

| I started in 73 when my friend and his dad took me (a m a Newton lad so it could have been very different). His dad’s mantra was “oh well there’s always next year.. I think I’ve inherited it. I really enjoy an exchange of views I just don’t like the labels that get thrown around. We do all want the best for our club, probably wouldn’t be a bad thing if we could occasionally meet up in real life over a Vimto or 2. Once you can put a face to someone it is a lot easier to be tolerant!

| I'm feeling the love. Me & Wire71 will probably meet up, have a chat, marry and settle down happily for years. I was getting tired of the wife anyway.

I'd like a get together. I live outside the area but come up to Lymm on a regular basis. It would be a bit of fun & I'm sure we'd get on.

| Bevan finished at the Wire the season before i started watching them. I remember seeing him being carried off the pitch on BBC northern news after his last game before he moved to Blackpool.

| My first game was 1970 my aunt at the time was a VP and I would walk in right behind her, never thought much of it at the time but she used to to have a lot of the players around her house where there was copious amounts of plates of toast and players just helping themselves. Went by Fletcher St this morning and it still gives me goosebumps.
