| It looked as though Currie was badly winded after a tackle. Maybe his substitution was precautionary.

| Going back to what I said earlier was worried in early phase when Cas were running over us and stopping us going forward. But when Bullock came on it for me turned us he had some strong carries and Mulhern aka Ron Burgandy got stronger when he came back yes we still light but starting to think we can deal with this.

Thought he adddd quite a lot, but needs to remain in control. Made 2 big erros and was lucky not to be sin bined after 35mins.
But its a step up from what we saw from him last week.
I think he'll do well under DP - confidence thing that he didnt get under Lam I think.

| I did fear the worst when Cooper wasn't named. I do think we lack a lot of 'punch' up front and that will be a problem against the likes of Saints and Cats. BUT, can't fault them tonight. Mulhern and Bullock looked fine. Our discipline was excellent...Castlefords was terrible... which is no surprise given who their coach is now. Charnley was excellent took his tries very well...now joint 3rd top try scorer in the super league era...nuff said. Some very good signs out there tonight...but there is still a question mark for me on the front row.

Another one for the radford thoughts,
I'm sure him signing 3 players that got him sacked at hull, 2 years ago is a great idea.

Can't argue with that, the pack is answering the questions asked so far without being dominant but it's still too early to say they're good enough, or not good enough for that matter. I like all 4 of our props individually just feel we lack overall size.
A massive positive from tonight is that we didn't miss Darryl Clark at all, walker was terrific. I had doubts about him, I was wrong. I wasn't wrong about Steve Price though, I think Jason Clarks performance proves that.

| Quote: fez1 "A quiet match from Ben.
Think he took a knock earlier on.
A big improvement on last week.
Several very good performances - Clark, Walker, Ashton, Charnley, Widdop, Williams and - as usual - Ratch (not to mention Ma'tautia).
But lets not forget we struggled with go forward until the intercept try.
We'll find out how good we really are after the Cats and Saints matches.'"
The intercept try was after five minutes; we only had two attacking sets before then!!!!

But are we having a laugh?
Hopefully we can make it at least 4 wins from the first 5 games. The more confident the players get the more they’ll express themselves. Williams and Widdop have both got a bag full of tricks waiting to be used.

| Phil Clarke said after the game we will come unstuck against Catalan and Saints because of the pack.

Don't get the hype about cats, think we will beat them easily. Saints are streets ahead of them and we will struggle(as will everyone else!)

| To be honest, I thought after a worrying first 10 minutes we matched their pack and later on dominated it - particularly when Bullock arrived.
I actually think on paper the Leeds pack is the best in the competition.

Thought Ashton's interception was well timed, as we were losing the yardage battle early on. Much more cohesive performance than against Leeds, and better organised when defending the play the ball. Bullock did catch the eye with some good runs, but needs to learn when the off load is on, and not when going backwards in your own 25 yard area. Walker was excellent. Yes, there will be better teams to encounter, but last night showed there's potential that we can find another gear (or even two) as the season progresses.

| I must admit, I feared the worse pre game and early on. The Ashton intercept really changed the mood in the stadium. It felt quite tense until then, but there’s nothing like seeing a genuine speedster going the length of the field!
Clark was good in the first half and Hughes in the second. Both of which I’m surprised with if I’m honest.
Mulhearn stood up well, and Walker is closing the gap on Clark nicely.
