| Quote Lord Tony Smith="Lord Tony Smith"What’s Rowley ever achieved? He won promotion with a Leigh team who easily had the best team in the Championship. His Salford side have lost their last six games. He’s Powell mk 2.'"
The only thing in common with Powell is they are both English...the current Salford squad is small in number and hit by sales and injuries so not buying into their mini slump to justify he wouldn't be e right ... That team is more than capable at full strength of beating anyone else in the competition and he is very much is at the heart of its philosophy.. something we dont have

| Shaun Wane lost Wigan over 5000 attendance figure during his take over of a very successful team. Hence his push from IL, however they want to dress it up as.
He has not displayed the qualities Wire require.
You only have to look at England to see that.

| Wigan might not of played a particularly attractive brand of rugby under Wane but it was at least successful, and is it realistically any worse than what we’ve seen for the last 5-10 years? Or for that matter out of sync with the way the game is played in general these days…
Off topic, but the flair of Lachlan Lam at Leigh is an absolute breath of fresh air for super league…

Because his CV reads like a poor man's Daryl Powell and we have just sacked the actual Daryl Powell?

Love how one of his reasons is ‘his team can beat anyone in the comp on their day’. So can any team. Hudds beat Catalans away, Wakey beat us. It’s not a prerequisite for becoming a coach.

To be honest, I've nothing against Rowley and, if he was appointed, I'd support him and wish him the best - I'd just be very underwhelmed and not have very high expectations.
Ultimately, if its a choice between someone like Rowley and a young, ambitious NRL assistant coach, then it has to be the latter for me.

| Agreed. Everything about Rowley in the summary above could replicate Powell at Cas.

| They did just give Burgess glowing coaching references on the Matty Johns show.

| Whoever we bring in, I’d want an old guard Director of Rugby to overlook getting everything the incumbent coach requires to get a perfect team, while dealing with every other aspect allowing the coach to coach, not manage.
Hence in previous posts, suggesting Alex Ferguson could manage our club. He doesn’t need to know the ins and outs of RL, he knows the ups and downs of management.

He's arguably the best RL forward of his generation. Granted that doesn't guarantee him making a great, or even competent, coach, but it makes for something more exciting than many of the suggestions being made.
It also would possibly attract some Aussie players who want to be here to play for the coach, rather than just for the pay cheque.

| Quote Lord Tony Smith="Lord Tony Smith"It happened believe me. Can you honestly see Wane getting on with Karl? Wane wouldn’t take him at all and would probably want him gone within a week. The board at Warrington are scared of how much Wane would shake things up.'"
Yup, it definitely happened. It sounds unbelievable because we went for coach with no GF wins as opposed to the coach with three.
I can't find out the boards rationale for that. The rumour is Wane wanted too much control. I would be happy to let him have whatever he wants.
