I guess they must know how much they can push it before people stop buying. Most people tend to just get the one, so they can afford to charge you through the roof for it. Leigh want to get people in the ground before and after the game are charging £2.80 this year, Bradford recently slashed their prices too for the same reason.

He ranks just behind the bloke who constantly shouts "tackle" when the opposition have the ball, followed by "offside" every PTB when we have it. Painful.

| The atmosphere will pick up naturally when the game - witness the goaline defence yesterday after a succession of penalties - or the occasion dictates it. Outside of that, you're probably going to need some sort of organised effort a la Wigan, minus the idiot fringe that attracted.
People need to accept that they go to the game for different reasons. Without getting into tiresome debats on what a "supporter" or "fan" is "supposed to do", I go to watch Warrington play. I have done since I was about 8. I'm now 35. Whilst I do "get behind the team", and I suspect I would do more so if everyone around me was chanting/singing, it doesn't define my experience any more.
And let's not kid ourselves about Wilderspool. For every game when it was a fearsome wall of noise, there were 3 when it was a tired, quiet, shell of a ground.

| Comparing atmospheres at their best, then Wilderspool wins, purely because of the way it was designed with the sound bouncing off the walls of snookers.
Who wants a three sided stadium though?

V13 at he back? He's a prick. Even the people around him (who he presumably goes to the games with) don't even appear to like him.
Atmosphere is/was terrible and our general pre match and half time entertainment is abysmal.

| I think the speakers need to be turned off before kick off. Game like Wigan and Saints the fans should have the time before kick off to create their own atmosphere. When they have the naff music playing so loud I can hardly hear myself think!

| It's the drums, they're monotonously annoying.
Drums are really only needed when there is a gigantic mass of fans who would struggle to keep in time with a song because they can't hear it in a 60-70-80,000+ crowd. With drumming atmospehres you get a lot of songs with "der de der de de der de de der" as the words to the songs. They're boring as hell after a while. What happened to singing actual songs? What happened to "Waaaaarrington...Waaaaarrington..."
Also the blaring music when points are scored too. Cringeworthy bull coming from the speakers so loud they can hear it in Widnes. It's not needed at all. That is the exact moment when the crowd are at their most boisterous and no songs can break out as we'd just be drowned out.

This is important too. It's so loud that people aren't creating their own atmosphere in the stands (you can't even speak to people sometimes because they can't hear you) so by the time the music stops and the game starts, it's as flat as a pancake in the stands because everyone has even stood there doing nowt.
In sport in England the clubs try to create the atmosphere and they don't understand that it's the fans that should be doing that.

| Is the music played so loud so that actually does drown out the crowd? I sometimes think that they play the music louder just to do that when our lot or the opposition are singing non-family oriented songs!

If it's who I think it is, I'm sure he goes to games on his own. Someone should bring a air horn and let it off right behind him every time he whistles.
All my other bugbears about atmosphere have already had a mention.
Pre game music: Way too loud and goes on for too long. Walking past the speakers on the way in is horrible. They've cut the music short a couple of times, notably at the Leeds Play Off game in 2011 and it works.
Try music: What's the point? It kills the atmosphere dead. As a kid, I could hear the roar of the crowd from my house when a try was scored; followed by Wires, Wires or oh Wary Wary. 'Celebrate Good Times'? on Sunday. Were they expecting people to join in? At least people join in with our own version of Tom Hark.
The constant moaning about the ref: No matter how much you shout Gerromonside, it's not going to change anything. Especially when the margins are fine. If someone is obviously offside, then fair enough. In fact, I'd go as far as to say, most of the people who stand near me, don't know half the rules of Rugby League.
Half time music/entertainment: When they play music it's way too loud. Half time is a chance to talk to your mates. Going to the game is about the social side as much as it is about the game itself. It's good to see they've got rid of half time dancing to ear splitting music. It's great watching some of the mini games. Seeing a 6 year old kid weave his way through a defence to score a try, past a kid picking his nose is great stuff. Half time kicking competition are always good for a laugh as well.
Full Time: Coldplay. Jesus Wept. Good tactic for getting me out of the ground though.
Atmosphere need to be spontaneous. Anything that is contrived will fail.

Agree with all of that. It is the constant screams of 'offside' etc that is ruining it for me lately, I just end up getting annoyed at how thick some people really are.
Listening on the radio on Sunday, it sounded absolutely ridiculous when they blasted that god awful celebrate song out. As you say, it was great when they turned the speakers off in 2011. If memory serves they then ruined it by drowning everyone out with some dreadful pop song of the week.
That reminds me, what happened to our very own rallying cry 'feed the wolves'? Old Faithful ain't got a scratch on that one. ![WHISTLE eusa_whistle.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//eusa_whistle.gif)

| Success breeds boredom. The main issue is that we go into 80% of our games pretty sure that we're going to win by a decent margin. Only a few teams are capable of giving us a game. There is a huge gulf in SL, with only the big 3(us wigan, leeds) having a chance at any silverware.

| Here is the situation
I have got together with a few other people who were fed up with the flat match day experience, at the Halliwell Jones. We created a Facebook page got about 60 people to join and started throwing around ideas of what we can do to improve the experience at home games. So we decided to move to the corner where people can see us all around the stadium.
We don't want to be referred as a group or gang. We would prefer to have the fans unified as one. We didn't want to become some eastern European ultras group, which people would cringe at. We want to create something, which the fans and the club would be proud of. Now we have moved, we need more people to join us and help us improve. We're not expecting this to happen over night, nor are we expecting it to be an instant hit with every single fan, but the only way this will work is if more people get behind us. At the Bradford game we had about 30 people move to the corner but it’s not enough. We need people to come over to the corner and get behind the team and get behind us. Anybody is welcome, just watch the game and enjoy yourself. We're not a bunch of childish chavs, which some of you on here seam to think we are. We're just loyal Wire fans with a passion for rugby league.
For more information about what’s happening with the 'Reclaim the Zoo movement' (as some people are calling it) then ask to join this Facebook group: [urlhttp://www.facebook.com/groups/117198151807628/[/url you will be able to see what’s happening and give us suggestions on what you think will help us.
Loud music is something we're going to talk to the club about. It’s something, which is killing the atmosphere at games. A few suggestions we have come up with include, getting rid of all pre game and halftime music altogether, turning the music down and changing the songs that are played.
Up the Wire!

Mmmmm. this sounds vaguely familiar. Didn't Wigan try to do something similar fairly recently? i can't quite remember what they called themselves. It was all started with good intentions, but after a short while they were joined by a few 'wannabes' that just wanted to fight. Now what were they called?
Things like this are doomed to failure, regardless of good intentions.

| I understand why you would compare use to the 'Wigan Ultras' but we're not trying to be a gang or group. We want the fans unified as one. What we don't want is a gang mentalities. If you believe it's doom to failure then can you help us go down a route, which you believe wont fail and will help the overall match day experience. We want people opinions and feedback and we're willing to listen to suggestions, which will help us improve.

| Not that it bothers me but songs with profanities will instantly turn the club against you ie 'Famous Wigan Rugby' & '(x place) is a sh-thole, i want to go home'.
To Teesside, i think Wigan's problem was creating a name for a gang of supporters, straight away it splits the fans.
If this is just simply organising fans that want to sing into a section i can't see the trouble.
There are fans who want to sing but won't if no one else is, herding them together is a good way, possibly leading to a domino effect.
If it's just about singing and not 'look at me superfan', good luck to them.

I am sure nobody has any ill intentions, but little things like 'We'll sing on our own' which I have heard quite a few times at games this year just creates an us/them mentality. But I hope to be proved wrong. Good luck with it all, I guess it is just each to their own.

| I think songs like that are just out of frustration. If a group of people are trying to get something going and everyone around is stood like a wet chip then maybe that song is just letting everyone around know.
ANYWAY It seems there is no cringy name, I was stood near and the group was a mix of young and old, no behavior issues either. Just fans who are sick of feeling like the odd ones out.
As long as there is no gang mentality, as just people stood there to sing I think that's a cracking idea. I'd like to see some colour in there as well, might influence those in the east to join in and the colour might make the club sit up and take note.
I may get slated rotten for this but I also like the idea of 'reclaiming the zoo' if that little corner could get going as well all know how the Fletch would that would bring some passion back to the club, Keep It up those who are trying, I'll be sure to join in when I'm there. ![DANCE icon_biggrin.gifANCE:](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//eusa_dance.gif)
