| If you lot were happy with that performance then he will not have to be up to much to get rave reviews for you next season.
To say he was in for his organisational ability yet failed to organise is a poor performance in my opinion.
McGuire was also anonymous.
I hope Smith has the balls to have a run with Tomkins and Eastmond, its a massive risk but we have nothing to lose. Both in my opinion (assuming Eastmond remains in league) have more chance of being a long term International halves combination.

Play Tomkins at prop then. I want my halfback to create and score tries, something Richie does a hell of alot better than Tomkins in a much lesser team.

Myler is miles behind Tomkins and Eastmond. I know people will point to the fact he scored two tries last night but he was anoymous the rest of the game.'"
Is he 'eck.
He was fine last night. You could see him being vocal, moving his troops around the field. He didn't 'demand the ball' often enough perhaps, but I didn't see McGuire doing that either and he's ten years more experienced. When he did impose himself on the game he showed his class, both individually and creatively. His passing in the second half when the link was crisp and on a couple of occasions after trysavers, I found myself surprised when it was Richie who rolled away from the tackle. (One on Wynne just before Hall went 95m.)
Was it perfection, No. Was it a massive improvement on last week, Yes.
As usual with Warrington fans, we like to knock what's ours and spank our monkeys over what everyone else has.

You mean like we trusted Smith to deliver at last year's world cup?! I suggest that you take off your Wire/Smith rose tinted glasses.
As for the Myler/Tompkins debate I think it is missing the point by miles. They are both internationals of the future, as is Eastmond. Whilst I would like England to beat Aus next week I can't see it happening no matter who plays. For me I would play all three even if one or two are off the bench. They need the experience of playing against the speed and strength of the Aussies. We failed miserably at the last WC and we need to develop a team that can have a chance of beating Aus/NZ next time round. This 4 nations comp is just a stepping stone. I will happily eat my hat if I am proved wrong and England win the 4 nations under Smith but I just don't see it happening given what I have seen in the Wales/France games. If a debate needs to be had then it should be Tompkins vs Maguire and not just in terms of who is best now but where we want to be at the next WC.
We should celebrate that England have three promising stars emerging and not waste time having a sterile debate about who is best. England are going to need all three in the coming years if they are to beat AUs/NZ.

Regarding mcguire, i agree, i don't rate him much either and i see Myler as a similar player, backing up and finishing rather than creating.
It isn't a case of knocking what's 'ours' . I rate Morley and Carvell as the best front row in the league for example. But i'm not guilty of saying a player is great just because he is a warrington player.

| I dont get why people are arguing who is a better player, Myler or Tompkins?
For me, they are two different players. If Che is going to drop anybody,McGuire was anoymous yesterday

| I'm sorry but I don't understand why everyone is arguing between Myler and Tomkins... as I said prior to the France game it should be Myler and Tomkins. Tony Smith stated they both hold different qualities so why not play them together then together they have the lot... on the last 2 games McGuire shouldn't be in the team and the hat-trick and souble try hero's should... it should be the two young guys they've performed the best.

I don't agree at all on this, and we could disagree on it all day long, which neither of us will have the inclination to do i'm sure. I'm not sure where this has come from this 'they are miles better', they aren't. Of the three halfbacks, I'd say Myler is the most creative, the two others are the more individual, hence why Eastmond was shifted back to centre after a time at halfback, his biggest threat is in his freakishness, his strength, footwork and evasion. The stats say Myler is creative, I know that they don't tell the whole story, sure, but they dismiss this myth that he isn't creative. He would have had a superb assist last night, taking the ball to the line and putting Graham back on the inside, had the ball not been spilt.
Last night, I thought the big plusses were his tackling, which I thought he was very good, and I also thought he displayed his toughness, after taking a pretty heavy shot, he was up quickly, accepting Bailes apology with great maturity, almost dismissing it as an accident.
He does organise his runners, this was clear last night. His support play is excellent, not just the tries, but when Smith made a break he was chasing Sinfield to take the next pass, he took a neat offload in the first half too and scooted off upfield at pace, so he'll add something next year, an alertness that we've missed for sure.
He can create though, I thought he gave some decent ball last night, as teh link, his passing was accurate, and that'll please Briers, as he'll get quick, fast accurate ball. Of the two, I thought he was better than McGuire put it that way.
It wasn't a snipe at you in particular, just a general notion on here of late amongst some posters, Warrington posters, that seem keen to run him down, talking up others at the same time. It's as though folk want to be able to puff their chests out proud as punch next year if he doesn't hit the heights we all expect and say "Told ya...".
He's a talent, a talent that's cost a few quid, and raised expectations a tad, and he'll have to cope with that. It's almost as if the fee is what people judge him on. He wasn't 'miles behind' Tomkins or Eastmond before, now, £200k or whatever, pfft, they're miles better, waste of money, blah blah.

Having not seen (or noticed) a lot of myler previously i used last night's game to watch his play. I have to say his involement in the first half was nominal. He took his tries very well in the second half and i believe he will score a lot of tries for us. I can see him being on hand when a break is made which is a talent in itself. When i say Eastmond and Tomkins being miles ahead is that they have a more rounded game offering more options to their team mates. Myler hasn't played much lately and i'm hoping it's just a case of feeling his way back into the game.
I'm presuming Burrows is unavailable as he is imo the better option still at scrum half for England

| Yawn Yawn Yawn this whole Myler Tomkins debate is getting abit boring now. Lets agree to disagree
When i went into work today, the two Salfords who i work with.he very first thing they said"Mlyer was poop last night Ratchford should have played"
. So i think Myler getting picked is just spur grapes by other fans.
