On the basis that the Wire are named after a major, but now defunct industry, what would we be called if we were re-named after the current dominant industry within the town?

It was definately Cull that introduced the Wolves bit, initially it was the 'Wire Wolves.' Maybe someone should ask him how it came about. Will always be the Wire for me though.

I thought Warrington Town were known as "Yellows"?

I presume by copywriting the name "Wire" that means the RL club cannot use it on any merchandise and must stick exclusively to Wolves? That's not right at all in my opinion.

No disrespect to Town as I don't mind non league football at all but growing up in Warrington I didn't even know where Cantilever Park was until I was in my teens and I've never seen a single person walking around Warrington wearing one of their shirts, scarves or whatever. Everyone in Warrington who likes football supports a Liverpool or Manchester club (although seeing a few Chelsea and Arsenal shirts in the town now makes me sick) so I don't see how a grass roots side earn themselves any good will by effectively stealing the nickname of the only professional sports club we have.

As the big headline on our Programme this season has been THE WIRE, I don't think that Town have copyrighted the name. There's only one Wire and only ever will be one.

tell me why Moran has got to fund this, don't you think he done enough for this club. lets get more fans to the games and try and take it from there
