Don't relegated clubs receive a parachute payment? I thought that's why leigh are offloading players because they didn't make the top 4 so can't afford the wages next year? Means Widnes would be ok for at least next year if relegated so they could afford the current players wages. I may be way off here but that's what i have in my head??

I believe so. The best thing for him too as he just can't get in the team. TS preferred Smith over Patton but not so SP.
I think Smith is guaranteed a bench spot at least at over half the current SL teams.

I think he should move on like GOB because it'll help him break as a regular.
