It's 2012, better medical facilities and understanding of diet and exercise means players can play longer

Quote: Rogues Gallery "
And add to that they have one of the least number of home grown players.'"

Relevance being?

As i've said before it's changing at Wire it doesn't happen over night

Again so what?
Do you get more points for winning with homegrown players?

It's pro sport, you get the best out of what you have available to you, we have a rich sugar daddy <brummy voice> who is significantly richer than yours<end brummy voice>
Plus with the ever more successful squadbuilder it will slowly change.

It's a nice point for a p*ssing contest ours is better than yours for Wigan fans but in real terms it means bugger all.

People say we have an old squad and we buy players in. So in theory when the oldies retire we may still buy old very good players, there's no panic here, money talks in the world of capitalism and we have a man rolling in it.

Producing the likes of Sam Tomkins has allowed us to offer him a large wage and keep him at the club under the new salary cap amendments if we applied Warrington's mindset and bought him in we wouldn't be able to put together such a deal.

so its another off quota foreigner in the wigan ranks, depriving english talent of an opportunity... This cant be good for the future of our national game, having clubs like wigan filling their squad with sub standard foreign players..... its no wonder we cant beat the aussies..... how many players did wigan have in the 4 nations first 17..... Just the one? POOR

they must be pushing HKR close now for most foreign players.

Obviously it is a worry having to replace our aged squad over the next couple of seasons. We wouldn't have this problem if they were all as young as Joel Tomkins and Thomas Leulai.

Will you be receiving £250,000 for any of your golden oldies when they retire?

No, but Moran will make that in interest in less than a week.

But it may be that the signing of this no-mark is a clever ruse to make Carmont look reasonable in comparison.

Clever.'"

We don't have to make him look reasonable. He was one of the, if not the best centre in super league in 2011.

This site constantly infuriates me with the number of pointless threads and supposed 'banter' which is no more than primary school arguing.
I'd rather just find out rugby news and talk to other rugby league fans, you know, like you would talk to them in a pub before/after a game. Some people just need to grow up.
This post is in no way aimed solely at the posters on the Warrington boards, I just happened to have my little b**ch fit at this point icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

OK, so we have some experienced players who are getting on in years, but we also have a fair bit of very exciting youth coming through. Last year we had to put up with post after post about Joel, and the 'holier than thou' Wigan Taliban were the worst. Then Wigan sign someone who's major achievement in the game is to squeeze one out in a public place and some people see it as an opportunity to get a bit of revenge. Joel has done well and behaved himself since he arrived and things have calmed down. Gelling will find the same if he behaves and keeps his cheeks clenched closely together.
It just so happens that we do occasionally have some good debate on here.

When I said 'this site' I don't mean the Warrington board exclusively. I mean on Wigan board, Leeds, Warrington, Saints etc.

I didn't say anything negative about Warrington fans, players, club or anything in any way.
My point was that there are numerous people on this site (rlfans) that would rather b**ch, moan, and argue like little kids rather than have an actual discussion about rugby league.
I have never or would never go into a pub and start a childish little argument (one step away from 'my dad's harder than your dad) with other rugby fans. I expect not many people on this site would do the same in real life. The internet seems to bring out the worst in people and that was my point. It's just annoying have to wade through all the cr*p to find anything interesting about our sport.

Quote: 21-12 "Im sure the "normal" Wire posters on here are absoulutely cringing at this thread. Talk about obsessed.

Just for the record, he looked good yesterday at Hull KR, made a couple of breaks and looked sound defensively, big lad aswell.

Loving the "no mark" comment. Remember the exact same being said about George Carmont. Could be worse, we could have signed a vastly over rated over the hill Aussie like Trent Waterhouse.'"

Do you see the irony in your post?

Regarding the old age thing, then surely that is a misconception in regards to actually winning trophies?

Especially at a club like Leeds too?

[b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag. [b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg

It's fair comment though isn't it? He is a no-mark. He might end up being an above average player (Carmont) but he is still just a random bloke to put into your squad. A bit like Stefan Marsh. Random. Average. A sort of Rugby playing Richard Ashcroft, if you will.
