| Quote Oxford Exile="Oxford Exile"why is everyone so surprised? we have gone from a team full of internationals, genuine creative players and good quality Aussies to a team riddled with mediocre players, over the hill has been's and no creativity. Its not rocket science really.
Briers not replaced to the same level
Hodgson not replaced to the same level
King not replaced to the same level
Solomona not replaced to the same level
Carvell not replaced to the same level
Morley not replaced to the same level
GOB not good enough
Myler not good enough in this set-up
Bridge - not good enough (might be finished)
Clarke replaces M Monaghan...should be good enough
Penny..not good enough...same defensive frailties
Russell..mediocre
Currie..mediocre
Simms - mediocre
R Evans - mediocre
Laithwaite - mediocre
Asotasi - finished
Hill - good enough...carrying the whole team at the moment
Ratchford - would be good enough in a better set-up
England - OK
Monaghan - would be OK in a team with a kicking game
Atkins - would be OK in a team with decent half backs
Westwood - OK
Harrison - OK
Higham - OK but nearly finished.'"
Pretty much spot on.
Genuine question - When does the goodwill that Tony Smith has garnered through his great work during his early years, eventually run out?
We've been in steady decline since 2011 - Compare the first choice 17's from then and now. Only Chris Hill would make the 2011 team. Those players whose names make both line ups have gone downhill since then, our signings since that time have been mediocre, and the young players coming through, while decent enough, none are what you would call quality.
I'm not saying Smith should be sacked or anything, but if this decline continues, by the end of his contract in 2016, most of us will be quite happy to see the back of him.

Best fans in Super League? We gave Paul Cullen 6 years at the helm now some are questioning arguably our best manager since WWII after 3 bad results ?

| Quote the flying biscuit="the flying biscuit"No pal I haven't changed my tune, I never expected us to win anything this year. What I have changed is my confidence to stay in the eight that's all. That's probably knee jerk after two poor performances on the bounce.
but that said I'm taking your lead and am off to Tony Smiths House to shout obscenities at his front door maybe I can hurl some horse manure at his BMW when he drives past........ that should help....'"
You really hate it when anybodies opinion is different to yours.
By your opinion nobody but nobody can criticise Smith because of what he's done. We'll all be eternally grateful for that.
Well in the here and now this coach and this team are hurtling towards possible middle tier rugby, then facing a battle to stay in SuperLeague.
I'm sorry that you feel that a coach appears unable or unwilling to see what's happening in front of him is beyond reproach.
Bit banal childish jibes are hardly the actions of a lucid person are they?

On a serious note for me to agree with your point of view I would have to think
A)You can see half back problems and Tony Smith can't. .
You'll forgive me if I side with Tony Smith I don't know your rugby league background. .Please tell us....
B)I'd have to agree a 22 year old player fresh from his only other club is stealing a living.....
Your not on I'll agree he's out of form but stealing a living no way. ..
There are probably more about Agar but seriously how can anyone know what an assistant does. ...when poaching left people said all he did was put the cones out. ....
So come on talk sensible rugby and not tittle tattle and i might agree with you.

So how long does Tony Smith's untouchable period last then?... I am genuinely interested to know.
Like I say, I don't want to see him sacked, or see any campaign to oust him, but I'm just curious how many years 3 challenge cups (last of which was 3 years ago) actually earns a man, before people can openly question his PRESENT performance without being shouted down as some sort of knee-jerk reactionary??
I was simply stating that if the obvious decline continues at the present rate, by the end of the 2016 season, people might have to eventually wake up and stop believing that Smith is some type of demi-God.

To be honest I'm not asking for you to agree not belittle a point of view.
A) the half back problems needed to be addressed and haven't. If he does see it, then why doesn't he do something about it. At present trying Dec Patton could not possibly do any worse than we're doing at present. Again and in my opinion Smith seems a lot more disinterested than ever. Perhaps he's planning his exit route, hence Agar appointment. But you have to agree something radical needs doing at half back.
B) Clark was fairly open on his first interview with the comment about hope to win things in the two years I'm here. I know news signed for 4, but that's what he said. Be is playing completely disinterested and is at present is just doing what any other hooker would do, ship it on.
Again in my opinion if something drastic is not done we're in big trouble
