I always refer to Warrington as Wire/Wires, as well as Northern for Bradford. Its something i've always done. Not keen on the Americanism of team names.

Don't like the name Wolves, but at least its one of the better ones. Some of them like Wildcats and Giants sound ridiculous.

Traditional names like Hull FC, Hull KR and Saints are the best.

Will always be 'The Wire' for me anyway.

Warrington Widgers was an option I believe, however the Super League said there was already one team of bell ends in Wigan so we had to leave that one alone.

It was definately Cull that introduced the Wolves bit, initially it was the 'Wire Wolves.' Maybe someone should ask him how it came about. Will always be the Wire for me though.

i think you'll find warrington town fc have copy writed the nickname the wire, it was only recent but my uncles on the board there and was made up when they got it
