| Burgess would be such a Fitzpatrick appointment. As an opposition fan, I sort of judge who you should get, on who I don't want you to get. I would've been chuffed for the league as a whole to see Holbrook back here because he is quality and will raise standards but obviously I think that would've meant you guys then being successful and I'd rather Wigan were. Out of the names being floated around, the only one that really worries me is Shaun Wane. I don't say that as a Wiganer, who is biased about his ability and thinks he can do no wrong but I genuinely think he would turn Warrington in to regular trophy winners. The club has the resources to do that but it needs the right man in charge. You have invested in your academy in the last decade but it feels like you've never had the right man in charge of the first team, who will back those lads and give them the confidence to become top level first team players. It is the only way to bring regular success and there would be nobody better to oversee that.
I hope you don't go for him but if whoever is making the decision wants success, I'd be offering him whatever it takes.

| The thing is Nantwich One that if you replace “Rowley” with Cas period “Powell” in your post it would apply equally.

| As a rhinos fan (no laughing at the back) I honestly thought Powell would bring you some success/silverware. I only see your games on sky so probably can’t see the full picture (no pun intended). Can’t believe how things have deteriorated from that first game when you obliterated us.

This has all the hallmarks of a Warrington "trophy" signing gimmick. I thought we needed a seasoned, experienced, proven winner. This is a complete and utter punt.

Morris might be a decent bet. Very highly rated by Jason Demetriou which is a pretty good recommendation.

| If we got Wane I'd show my arris in Woolies' (now pound land?) window. He's so dyed in the wool Wigan he'd never touch us with a bargepole and rightly so. We'd be poison I'm afraid. I must say I don't understand how he can be England coach and still have this mystical 'role' at the pie dome. Surely a clash of interests. Does my head in seeing him sitting chatting to Peet before games on Sky. You never see him so friendly with other team's coaches.

He literally works for Wigan on a paid basis, so his interaction with the coach of the club he works for is clearly going to be different to how he is able to interact with other coaches. I don't think Wellens, Peters, Watson etc would be thrilled if he rocked up in the team dug out pre game.
I'd also disagree with there being no way he'd go to Wire. Yes, he's a proud Wiganer but he's not thick and if the will is there to get back in to day to day coaching and the money was right, I think Warrington would be up towards the top of the list of clubs he would go to-Local to him, knows some of the players, ambitious and a great opportunity to run everything his way. It would all come down to his appetite to be back in full time club coaching but I don't see it being Warrington as any sort of issue tbh.

Sadly, the egos at Warrington wouldn’t touch Wane. He’d certainly change the culture for the better, that’s for sure.

Good post.
I agree with the gist of your comments, but not with regards Shaun Wane.
Wane has coached virtually all the Wigan developed players from them being 14/15 years old and has moulded them into his way of playing the game from that age, He is a father figure to them and they have a very close relationship.
If he came to Warrington, he wouldn`t be afforded anywhere near the time he required to replicate what he has done at Wigan. The Board AND fans want success within probably a 2 season timescale, and he would be moved-on.

I didn't know his role at Wigan was paid, that makes his role with England/vice versa even more of a clash of interests to me. Oh well, funny old game!
