Can this be described as 'must win' yet? I think every game is, now.
Snip Why couldn't we? Bar a few cup games we have been bloody awful this season. Defence is poor and we look at times like we would never score even when we had Walker, Williams and Ashton. We fell short last year when we were playing well and in form. Team is markedly weaker this year. But I tip my hat to your optimism. We’ve been awful (at times), playing with half of our salary cap in the stand, but still made a cup final and was a fingertip from beating the best team in the league. We’re still more than capable of cruising into the 6 and having a shot at the stumps. What have we got to lose? If it’s time to cut the teams that aren’t playing well, let’s just have a top 3 and we can build for next year. We’re literally half way through the year, we’ve beaten tough opponents in big games, and lost to Wigan and Hull KR by a whisker at big events. We have 7 of our remaining 13 games against the bottom 4, only having played 3 of them 10 fixture against them. The only games that stick in my throat are Vegas and the two Wakefield games. The Widnes one if I’m being picky. The rest are fair game, we beat Leeds and Leigh, they get one back on us, so what. If anyone can remember where Leeds were at round 14 in 2011 let me know, or where Salford were in June 2019. Nobody knows, nobody cares. We can doom monger and kick stones all we want, but this season is far from over. You see that's the problem at times with this forum. If you express a realistic view based on our form and performances you are accused of "kicking stones" and "being a doom monger". I saluted your optimism I didn't call you a "deluded dreamer" as we don't need to be rude. Of course it is statistically possible for Warrington to win the GF but the likelihood of it is vanishingly small. No team in modern playoff format has won from outside #1 or #2. But we shall see. I will be very happy for you to shove this post up my arris in October. 1. You forgot to mention the Hull FC game at home to add to the Wakefield and Vegas games. 2. Leeds were established serial GF winners and 2011 was under a difference format. 3. Salford in 2019 finished 3rd in the regular season and got duly stuffed by Saints in the GF in 2019. So not sure what that has to do with anything.

So not sure what that has to do with anything. My point with Salford is that they were mid table half way through, and made it to the final despite not being in the top 2. The facts are, only one team has done anything this year. kR won the cup and are cruising the league. Everyone else is underperforming and is beatable, we have a reasonably winnable list of fixtures and genuine talent returning and due to return to a team that took the best team in the league to the dying breath. We’re in it, I genuinely believe we’re in it.

Yes. We need to win this, and if we can get a bit of a bounce and get some points off Hull top 6 pretty much ours position to lose. When you say "top 6" you surely mean 6th (or 5th at a push) place? Higher than that is out of reach even if we were playing well. I’m not sure the difference between sixth and third is significant. Leeds may be too far ahead, Leigh have Catalan this week and then go to Leigh so could break away that top four or drop back into the middle block. But it’s all about us. The teams around us play each other, and we play them too. We can beat Huddersfield, aim up against Hull and we can get them, then two banana skins in Salford and Catalan. 6 points out of 8 gets you in the driving seat. 8 points out of 8 and we’re pretty comfortable. Yes we may make an away play off game to make up the numbers, but only the most ardent supporter would think we are seriously challenging for a GF win. Why couldn’t we? Theres no doubt we can compete in big games, it’s about how we arrive there and whether we can be in a better position to back up after a big game. By play offs, we should have Dufty and Walker back, having had Williams have a substantial rest mid season. Our best players could arrive fit and healthy at the important bit. The potential third game, a grand final, is a side pot. Form, table position and energy level go out of the window. It’s two back to back that is the issue. We haven’t proved that we can do that, but there is strong evidence that we can beat teams in one off events. The next 5 weeks are vital. We need to pick up the points from Huddersfield, (ideally) Hull, Salford, Catalan and Cas. 8 points minimum, from there it’s a different outlook. Really..is this a wind up..if not do you know the lottery numbers.. seriously you need to see a doctor...heard it all

| Given our habit of blowing hot and cold the chances of us stringing back to back wins either before or during the play offs is non-existent.
Once again, we have a team lacking professionalism, gits and ambition and it starts at the very top - and I include Moran in that.
You aren't a child with a toy, you're the owner of a multi million pound business and your brand (the team) stinks, and some of your highest earners (the players) are taking the p*ss out of you, and us.
Personally, I'd prefer a bit more hard nosed w*nker Alan Sugar-isms from the directors. I don't want to see you hobnobbing with fans, I want you holding the coaches and staff to account.

That’s the CEO’s job mate….and ours is a complete and utter cringeworthy joke sadly.

Can’t see that happening. But there is so much wrong on and off the field it does need dealing with. No amount of gimmicks will get people through the turnstiles.

| Do the optimists who say if we get into the 6 (by the skin of our nads), then we may stand a chance really think we'd beat (theoretically) Leeds in 3rd, at Headingley, then either KR or Wigan away the week after, THEN win at OT?
Behave.

I wouldn't have dared to say this but I must admit I am coming to the conclusion our problems must stem right from our exec leadership (board of directors and chairman), everything flows from that. Its the only ever present. And it ties in with our sprial of demise after Gatcliffe left. I think they like the day out at wembley and the big vanity signings (players and now coaches), vanity events (Vegas) but that's about it. They are not desperate to win a GF and neither is anyone else below them with the exception of the fans.

To be fair I think it is optimist (singular). As you say it's a far fetched proposition.

No amount of gimmicks will get people through the turnstiles. Surely the edgy street wear will help in the war for the working class?

| We cannot afford to lose today. If we do then we are in a downward spiral like we were under Powell. Last week was poor but there was slight mitigation for the fact that Leeds are one of the in-form teams (although my opinion changed after last nights showing) and we were on a downer after the CC final. Still unprofessional from the players though if this is the case. If we continue how we have left off i think Hudds will pip us. They outplayed Wigan last week and should have really won. I just can't seem to fathom how we have produced 3 epic performances against top teams in the CC (Saints, Leigh, Hull KR) and being 2 minutes away from winning it but our league form has been woeful.
