Possibly, but more likely a NRL signing.
But such is the current lack of star quality British halves Mellor could quite easily be part of a grand-final winning team... think about Gale five years ago - who would have guessed he’d be a MOS winner? Also let’s remember Matty Smith won the GF (a couple of times?)...
Not saying Mellor is the answer but he’s way further up the list than a union centre that can’t get a game in his own sport and is holding out for a massive wage.

Phil Blake played a couple of short term seasons. Not available when it mattered most.
Allan Langer went home before the end of his contract.
Great Mackey did about 12 weeks and returned so you could say him...dis we ever win a trophy in that 2nd coming?..
We really have had no luck with aussie halfbacks for decades...if ever even!! |

Yes but once again not a full contract but you're bang on with one full season.
Really we are desperately trying to find one. It does nothing the say that aussie star backs...omitting Nat Wood, are a poor return. |

Massive generalisation but I think the Kiwis embrace the opportunity of living abroad more readily than their Antipodean cousins. |
