no your right again there is simply no arguing with you, they've only been calling it ( the pre season fixture) the [ureturn to Redfern[/u for about the last four years.......
I take it you've seen Souths play in the ANZ stadium for an NRL game ??
usually there are around 70,000 spare seats so I think as a warm up game against a team from a league they dont care much for, playing in a 5k stadium is about right....

If Wilderspool was redeveloped and modernised as a training facility and could hold 5,000 speccies, surely it would make sense to play a pre season game there, call it the return to wilderspool sell tickets firstly to season ticket holders then on general sale, have it sell out and turn a normally boring 3.5k attended game in an empty and half shut stadium into a tremendous piece of marketing and nostalgia once in a life time etc etc game at the former 100 year home of one of the founder members of the Northern union. ????

It's return to redfern because they return for a pre season friendly once everyear, redfern oval was home ground and there leagues club is across the road.it got done up a few years ago to a 5000 capacity, its council owned now and Bunnies train there, the leagues club is also being revamped which is a 3 storey building. Go on YouTube and tap in souths on chalmers, its showing the re find work and also tap in ...return to redfern that's where ur playing!!

No apology afraid. How can it be "=#FF0000THE RETURN" when Souths have ALREADY played there. The point I was making was that I was surprised that it was not played at a bigger ground. I've been to Refern (not since it's redevelopment), I've been to Souths Leagues Club (and was warned to stay inside until our taxi arrived), I've been to the ANZ and I've been to the SFS, so I don't need "lecturing" on their merits.

I would have thought that somewhere like the SFS would have been the ideal choice, but maybe Warrington are not a big enough attraction.

Can't see a problem with a stadium of 5,000 capacity for Souths first pre-season game. It will have history to the location and a sell-out crowd creating a bit of atmosphere. A damn sight better atmosphere than there will be in your rented stadium for Sean O'Loughlin's testimonial game - how many do you think will be there for that game? With Warrington selling more than 200 tickets for the Souths' game at the club shop I'll bet there will be more Warrington fans at our game than there will be Huddersfield fans at the Dave Whelan Stadium for O'Loughlin's game.


As for the SFS stadium jibe I guess we couldn't use it as Wigan have it booked as part of their link-up with a NRL club that they were so vocal about a couple of years back or are they using it for the Saracens cross code game?
