| I read it as him tapping in to the hatred Smellyville fans have of Warrington & saying they don't want the boo-boys there so send them somewhere they hate ie Warrington.... And no thanks we don't want them, there's quite enough boo-people here already....

| Surprises me that - Widnes & Warrington always hated each other in pre-SL days. And pretty much everyone hated Wigan. Mind you they still do.

| Booing your own players is so counterproductive and just stupid. Its the resort of the kn0bhead. There are other ways to express your dissatisfaction but undermining players confidence even further is not the answer.

| Time for Paul Cullen to "circle the wagons". I like PC but he has this need to say something when something doesn't need saying. I know where he is coming from but he will not do himself or the team any favours in the long run.

| Oh how short some of your'e memories are!!
In 2002 Paul Cullen was a god with Warrington Fans, he had done the unthinkable and kept us up after the dark days of Anderson and Plange.
He then went on to take us to the playoffs for the first time on a squad whos combined wages where the 3rd lowest in the league.
He helped lead us to the HJ and assembled a quality side that played some of the best attacking rugby I had ever seen, unfortunatley they couldn't defend as well.
Ok things turned sour, what if Paul Cullen had wanted to implement some of the things that TS has since he came in but the board didnt allow him or wouldnt back him. Paul Cullen wanted shot of M Gleeson but the clubs directors wouldnt let him, smith comes in and it happens within weeks. None of us will ever know if Cullen could have acheived what TS has with the same support and backing.
I read the comments as if you want to boo go to Warrington where their is little to boo at. Remeber the game against Leeds where all the young lads had to play, Warrington Fans certainly didnt boo their efforts at any point.
Cullen didnt take us to the next level,TS has but as Warrington fans we still have an awful lot to thank Paul Cullen for.

| Think there has been an over exaggeration on here regarding his comments.
I can understand how it can be interperated but I genuinely don't believe PC would ever slate the Warrington fans like that. I believe he was simply saying if you don't like what you see go down the road and follow the nearest team.
Personally I think he should have kept quiet as he's not doing himself any favours with the Widnes fans, but PC will always wear his heart on his sleeve, a quality to be admired.

| I actually heard the interview on the radio and fair do's to Cullen he was basically saying if you aint gonna support your team, sod off to the one down the road. Not necessarily a slur on Warrington or its fans.

| Quote ="Wilderspool memories"Is Paul cullen now biting the hand that fed him for so many years, his "beloved" Warrington? Is he claiming that all us wire fans of whom he once said he was proud are merely "boo boys" who boo regardless? If so he is insulting the club and the fans! Yes Paul, the fans did boo when you were in charge at Warrington. The reason was because everyone could see that a team full if highly talented players was not performing to it's best. The same mistakes were being made week in week out,no solutions to the problems were being found and matches in which we had healthy leads were being lost because the team could not defend and play for 80 minutes. There is a word for that Paul................coaching!!!!!!!!!!! Wake up and smell the coffee Paul Cullen, within 18 months of you leaving Warrington that same bunch of players who could not beat an egg with you in charge had won the challenge cup,the booing had stopped, games that should be won were being won and not thrown away. Now the fans at widnes are "boo boys." Who is the Widnes coach again? I wonder where the problem really lies eh PC?'"
Not Content to make yourself look like a complete tool on everybody else's forums, you come on your own and write this utter garbage. If you think for one minute that Paul Cullen wouldn't bleed primrose and blue if he was cut open, then your even more of an idiot than you come across.

Nice case geordie.
that is the first time i heard that cullen wanted martin gleeson gone.
I do believe that the board had given cullen all the backing he needed and wanted...
Did cullen want to rid of the booze mentality that the club had previous to TS???? my reaction would be no as i don't think that crucially. He did not have the Strength too follow through with threats and lost the locker room...
I do personally think that PC had taken the club as far as he could take us. Regardless of where we came in the 07 season...
We have alot to be greatful for paul cullen, leading us too the play offs in 04, and again in 07. But did he have the strength to take us as further, as TS has done within his first year at the club... I don't think he has...

Paul Cullen didn't have the exicusion too push forward too progress
and didn't have the balls too discipline when needed with his players...

| I'll pull it in another way...
did the players want too work for cullen...
the players walked back when going from defence too attack at quiet alot of games under cullen. Sometimes taking 3 or 4 tackles too have a attacking line..
Fast forward too tony Smith... We have energy and all players are in a attacking line from tackle 1.

| He is not having a go at Warrington. He is having a go at the fans that boo, if you want to watch a winning team watch Warrington.
I completely agree with Geordie. Cullen is a good coach and took us from a relegation threatened team to playoffs in a short time.
Unfortunately he is not a great coach and could not take us to the next level which Smith has done.

| Why would he be bitter?
Booing him is one thing, standing outside main reception and throwing very personal insults at him in front of his kids is another.
I wouldn't have blamed him for going outside and pasting the lot of you, but then again you'd have probably ran off by the time the door opened.
Him being bitter is very understandable because he is a genuine and honest bloke.
As for the board not backing him, well they never backed Jimmy either but because they head hunted Smith then they will of course give him anything he wants.

I always thought Tony Smith was overrated. Wins the Grand Final with Daryl Powell's team at Leeds and then comes in to Warrington and steals Cullen's to win the Challenge Cup.
Mind you I suppose Cullen got the credit for Plange's team keeping us up in 2002......Nat Wood, Westwood, Appo who brought these guys in? We should never forget Plange for saving us when all seemed lost.

They never backed Lowes because we were bottom of the league. If we start next season like we started 2009 and are rooted to the bottom by Easter, don't be surprised if Tony Smith leaves the club by 'mutual consent'.

| As everyone thinks TS is the best thing since the invention of the game i'll throw this one in...
The best coach in the world right now is still probably Craig Bellamy, the most successful is Wayne Bennett.
Craig Bellamy cannot buy a win for NSW so does this immediately make him a bad coach, the answer is no so what is really important a good set of players or a good coach.
Everyone is basing their assessments on simple games won and lost. Last years challenge cup success was partly down to good planning and partly down to luck, look at Catalans run this year.
I'm not saying TS is not a good coach, he obviously is.
