I agree totally. Hull have had a real tough time. Any club would have struggled with what they've got out. Kelly, Sneyd, Connor & Minichello are big players. We sometimes pretend that luck with injuries are not important. They are ... and we have been pretty lucky this year. They were trying tonight but they are not that good ... and we were on a bit of a mission to wipe away Wembley blues.

....add to that them releasing their main prop Watts too.

Buses you wouldn't want to be on:

One of my main gripes about Wire sides of the past is we have often been fragile, other clubs bounce back from a bad result but Wire tended to follow up one bad result with a bad run of form (especially a problem in the Cullen era).

No way would I have ever thought we'd be scoring 80 a few days after the Wembley disappointment. That is a good sign.

It makes you wonder if there is a dusty old training manual in the dressing room that says all Wire teams should have a 15 minute period of self destruction in every game.

Watched the second half with commentary. Hemmings DEFINITELY had a bad case of mentionitis re. Wembley. He brought it up, every set of 6. Poor Eddie

As for game well done wire..was expecting a dour struggle not free flowing rugby..next week will be tougher but if wakey can get stuck into hudds tonight it may make next week a touch easier... Fully agree with Lefty about not putting the cue on the rack at half time. Very pleasing and one of the few times I've seen no let up.
Hull put up a bit of resistance at the start of the 2nd half but even then we outscordd them 3 tries to 1 before the flood gates opened again.

Great kicks from both Clark and Lineham resulting in tries.

Hughes was awesome in the 1st half and just plain good in the 2nd !! My mom.

Good display all round, but we need to carry this level of performance through to the end of the season. Although good to see some crisp handling, supporting the ball carrier, better distribution from dummy half and the yardage made by the pack, it's still annoying that the wembley performance was well below par.
Worrying that Hill, BMM and Thompson all have knocks - hope they're ok for the more important game against Huddersfield.

Widnes have had injuries all season to a very poor squad and have never been in the receiving end of a 70+ and 80 hammering like Hull have this season.

I wouldn’t be too worried if I were Hull though. We put 80 past Cas two years ago and the year after they had their best season ever.

It is hard to judge how much of last nights performance was down to
A) Kick up the arris and raising our gane
B) things sticking that didnt stick on Saturday
C) Hull just feeling sorry for themselves and wanting the season to be over.

The one thing that i thought worked brilliantly was Jack Hughes at 13 playing as an extra prop.
Maybe in attack he just has not got some of the touches that you might need a second row. Last night he ran straight and hard. He didnt have to judge if he was a block runner or he was going to get the ball.
I thought he had his best game for us last night. Hopefully that is his position from now on.

That would explain the lack of attack, it doesn’t explain 80 points against.
