| Quote: Jaywire "Are people taking into account the difficulty we put on the kickers who DO get their kicks away? If you only judge the tactic by the results of the ones we get to then yeah, we've not done well out of it this year, and from the games I've seen that's because we're not following them up as eagerly. Currie today couldn't outrun Briscoe and Watkins to get his, though he had a damn good effort; where was everyone else?
For the ones that do go, how many times have we forced the kicker into a poor kick? Loads. I think it was last time we played Leeds actually when our kick pressure pushed Sinfield to belt it clear into the stands on the full near the halfway line. Somehow I don't think he'd make that big a mistake if we weren't putting the pressure on.'" I've no problem with attacking the kicker, we don't we attack the ball.

Same thing. They know we're coming and we're going to do our best to block that kick, so they have to change where they direct it. And to be quite honest, I at least prefer that to the late hit on the kickers that are commonplace these days

| We were very poor tonight and I don't ever intend to watch that back to see just how bad it was. However I will say that there were quite a lot of players out there that hadn't done a lot of game time for a while. Doesn't make it much less disappointing though.

| As Meast was saying, when all the usual suspects have been sacked what are they going to be replaced with ?....All the "quality" players from rival clubs who are queueing up to sign for the Wire or are we going to recruit from our wonderful under 19s set up ? There is a distinct lack of quality in SL at present & no doubt within the next couple of years Leeds will be affected as they lose their older players. The reality is that some of our players are here to stay because they may be a better alternative than what else is out there.

| I actually thought Leeds were very, very good last night. They did to us what they did to Saints last week and sometimes it's not about how "bad" you thought we played but the how well the opposition played. Give Leeds their due, I don't think any team would have lived with them last night

38352_1407962301.jpg Packs Win Games
Great Packs Make All Backs Look Class

| There is a measure between us a Saints. They were comfortably beaten, we were utterly thrashed.
We are well off a top team and as some have said all season, were are an average team at best.
The problem is the pack. We constantly replace 2 good props with 2 shaat ones.
In 2012 we would replace 2 good props with 2 great ones.

Tony smith has assembled this squad and next year the pack is more or less going to be the same as the signings made are backs , the way the nature of the game is played your going to pick up injuries and suspensions thru the season to key players the forwards that played last night could very well play a few games together next season, Leeds offloads were outstanding last night instead of having a set of six it's like having a set of 8/9

| I know that we don't have a prop lined up, but TS needs to consider one.
Next season Westwood to partner either Harrison/Philbin/G King/B Evans and god forbid England.
Westwood could be viewed as a slight weight gamble similar to that of Sims.

Your halfbacks are pretty good players. Myler is a classy 6 and O'Brien a perfectly capable Super League 7. Put those two into the Leeds or Wigan squad and no one would be criticising them at all.
Is Smith the problem? I was laughed at for suggesting Sandow's arrival might hasten Smith's exit, but it doesn't seem like the players are all that committed at the moment. Is changing the coach perhaps now the final piece?'"
id be delighted to see myler and obrien in the wigan squad.how about sts aving em both, how would you feel

It's not that long ago that the Wire fans were telling everyone that Myler was better than Sam Tomkins, and where is "he's one of our own" Declan Patton? Back on topic I remember John Monie saying that a coach only has a 5 or 6 year maximum lifespan at one club, and I tend to agree.

I don't think I've ever seen a post saying that on here, nor have I ever heard any Wire fan say that Myler is better than Tomkins..?
Declan Patton is one of our own, and is part of the squad and currently not being selected..

| FWIW
It,s dangerous to make one off comments after one match. After all we had 3 returning from injury and we're playing most of our juniors. And Leeds have an excellent set of backs capable of ripping any SL team apart. But, but, but, .....we are an average side and the table does not lie. What is more important to me is how we got here. A few seasons ago we had an old, but classy side. Smith seemed to excel with this group of players, because ( I believe) he is a great motivator of people. And with talented, experienced players his 'light touch' training techniques were ideal - those players already knew all the moves and what they should be doing. Fast forward to today and the squad is full of youngsters who need a lot more hands on. They have not played Origin or been to Finals before and need much more support - I think this is less Smith's forte, in fact my suspicion is that Moran has brought Agar in to cover this aspect of the coaching.
So I think there are two problems that have brought us to this current position;
1. A coach that is no longer the best option for a young squad and
2. Poor choice of player recruitment as our ageing stars have left and or retired.
We seem to have gone from the Pound Shop recruitment approach to the Pound Note style overnight. Suddenly there are lots of people being talked about and recruited. My guess is that Moran is behind this and has recognised that after two seasons of a very average Wire squad something drastic had to be done. If you think about SL now, there is no longer the 'big four', just the (usual) big three. We have dropped out of the top echelon. Let's hope that we start to move forward again last year on the back of some good recruitment this year.

| I agree w/o to a large point.
We were full of kids v Leeds and I expect a big turn around. We were always on for a hiding while Leeds chose to run with the trilogy...Sinfield Burrow and McGuire.
But what I find frustatingly hard to except was that performance V Hull KR. That shouldn't have happened as long as I've got a got a hole in my ass. We are much better than that. I make TS fully responsible for that defeat as I do the 2011 GF defeat. He saves bizarre structure changes and substitutions on the biggest of games.
I fully expect us to win our next game, with senior players returning and one less lazy prop in the equasion.
I'm still pretty damn peeved with TS and last Saturday.
