Don't be daft, you're not suggesting for one minute that topics get recycled on here are you?

BTW I'm as guilty as anyone for joining in with the same old same old

But what does a four man drum kit achieve? I'm not knocking you btw, I just think that all a drum does is annoy people or just make them occasionally go der der der der a few times. No drum and people are a bit more creative etc. Correct me if I am wrong, there wasn't one at the KC but we still made a fair bit of noise between the small group of people who had travelled over, despite it being absolutely freezing.

This year I have been to all the away games, plus the LSV, York, Featherstone, Dewsbury and a couple of other SL games. I am struggling to think of a game where the home side has made noise, the only one I can think of is Leeds, maybe Craven Park. It's nothing unique to Warrington.

Quote: chrissyg1996(2) "The thing is, since we have had no real leader in the south stand since Geordie gave up, no-one is there to create the atmosphere but is also respected by everyone enough to join in, I like that you try and create an atmosphere, but even myself, I hate home games, I prefer away where people join inane back the team, just because we are away from home and need to make ourselves heard and intimidate the other team with our noise, no-one likes coming to the HJ because of facing our team, I'd we make it loud and even more intimidating, then it will become a fortress'"

Spot on

easy .........stand in the middle of the South stand and bang it out.

All crowds sing and chant at sporting games anybody who doesn't want it .....play or watch dominoes or snooker.

When the team's back against the wall we go flat and so do they , the banter and singing is a sign of support it lifts the crowd and of course the team ......14th man etc etc. It's part and parcel of watching live competitive team sport.

Finally ...Geordie ....please come back for a few weeks and train the lads up ..... icon_biggrin.gif

Well obviously its creating something because if the drummers weren't there you could hear a pin drop. Some of you may hate drums because you go to watch rugby and not sing silly songs. However people have just as much right to go to the games and bang a drum. If people in the east stand joined in (or anyone for that matter) do you really think people would be on here asking if there is a point in trying?

Some on here are far too miserable and look over a think 'bloody kids with that drum making a racket' I d say that though those 'kids' may not have watched the game as long as you, I think their passion burns brighter than many on here. Going out of their way to try and rally a crowd isn't easy and they never give up.

In a nut shell, how many years did we wait for this? and now we have something to sing and celebrate about they don't! £10 bet now though says that on majic weekend all the 'passionate' fans will be out and bouncing underneath the stands again. I've never seen so many people joining in in my life! Time have changed I thought... Maybe people will get involved now. No such luck. Its a shame but its all down to ale.

Away games on a Friday or Saturday. The fans a re bouncing. Why? They've been drinking all the way there! CC and GF? Drinking all day. soon as it comes to a home game there's no one in the pubs any more, I remember when you couldn't move in the kings head, Railway, Rodney or the Red lion.

If there are those out there who want to improve the home game atmosphere then Please try and get in the new corner.

P.S. Trying to 'force' an atmosphere upon people does work. Look at the Celtic green brigade. It's only them singing half the time but when they get the ground jumping they really get it jumping. I guess it must be sad for you feeling as you the atmosphere is being 'forced' to all those trying that's just them at a normal game. I only wish everyone felt the same a them eusa_wall.gif

This is really daft now. so we all have to get bladdered to make an atmosphere do we? Then we come to your really stupid quote about it being possible to force an atmosphere.
Please, if there are any more idiots like this, let them go in the new corner, at least they can all be together, then everyone else can get on with watching the game and supporting the Wire (which is actually what we're there for).

To the earlier comment on standing in the centre. I would stand directly in the middle if we was allowed to but health and safety got onto us saying that even on the 20 metre line the chants and singing were interferring with the stewards walkie talkies. In the new corner the singing and chanting last week, is definately louder as the corner echoes the sound all around the ground

I seriously started to laugh out loud at this post.

I didnt post this on here to start an argument between the fans when we obviously are all there for the same reason no matter what views u have on chanting. I just no the atmosphere and fans when we get right behind the players during a game, Does motivate them and makes them feel like we are the extra man they sometimes need. Some of the players have even commented about it in the guardian at the start of the season.

I no its never going to get like the old geordie days as no1 has that booming voice he had to start the chants. But i think everyone can agree that the place can definately be a more exciting place than it has been all year to date.

And i do agree with the comment earlier that you can kinda force an atmosphere when you look at the likes of european football. For them its all about playing at home and making the away team scared of them.

But if drummers weren't there, after a while people would start to make spontaneous songs up and after a while they'd catch on and songs with far better words than "der der der der der der" (whoch seem to go hand-in-hand with drums) can get going. Incessant drumming is monotonous and annoying and most songs that go along with them are garbage. What happened to songs with words? What happened to "Waaaaarrigton...Waaaaarrington..."?

Drums are needed when a stadium holds 60/70/80000 with a vocal stand that holds 20000 that is full and everyone needs a beat to keep in time. When a whole ground holds 15000 and the vocal stand holds 6000 and isn't full, there absolutely no need for a drum. Drums bring a forced and unnatural, manufactured atmosphere. Real atmosphere will rise and fall with the excitement and drama of a game and I think if we went a couple of years without any drums this natural atmosphere would be well evolved and would be better than it's been for a while.

The Hull clubs don't have a drum, and they're arguably the best two clubs for atmosphere.

Being original is key as well. Singing the same tired old songs or just following the same tired old "der der der der der der der" tunes that have been going around since the mid 90s that half the team sports clubs in England sing or "der" along to, is surely now run it's course?

It's been fun.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_44480.jpg

On the drums, i'm in the minority camp of i don't care either way, i know they're divisive but i don't notice them, i'm usually engrossed in the game.
Singing, sometimes i do, i get in the mood love it, sometimes im quiet and just cba with it.
Sometimes i sit in the East, sometimes go in the West most of the time in the south and occasionally treat myself to the north.
You can't cater for everyone in one big catch all.
I do despair that the 'old farts' moan about people just trying to create a better experience for themselves, if that's their thing then just let them be if they doing no wrong.
No the young ones need to be aware that these 'old farts' as you call them have been there and done that and it's their prerogative to be quiet, they're there for the game and that's enough for them.
We've got to just except that people want different things from their match day experience.
Non of our opinions are right or wrong but i'm certainly not going to criticise people with good intentions.
These 'drummers' are just as enthusiastic about the club than those who research the history of our club, they are just as important.

We are all one, Lupus Non Mordet Lupum has never been more appropriate.

[quote="Eddie Hemmings said not ":1h9um51j] "Remember last time they were here, the Huddersfield Giants, they lost to a Luke Walsh drop goal. He's only scored four drop goals in his St Helens career has Luke Walsh and each and every one of them have been scored by Luke Walsh"[/quote:1h9um51j]:

I pretty much agree with this. Like most I have never been the type to start a chant, rather I used to follow and join in (still do at the right times and the right chant). I genuinely believe that the drums have replaced those characters who would start chants meaning chants now basically involve a 'dum de dum WIRE'.

How do you bang out 'GI' ME A DOUBLEYOU'?

I may come across as not liking the drums however (despite them moving in 'next door' the past couple of weeks) I can take them or leave them.

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!:

People support their team in different ways. If you and your mates want to try and get them going with the drum, go for it. The more you try, the more you will realise what does and doesnt work. Keep at it lads.
