| Quote: Milly "Tony Smith didn't drop the ball or miss a single tackle tonight! If you said to me back in February that we would finish 3rd in the league and would retain the Challenge Cup I would have happily accepted that. I have thoroughly enjoyed this season. Next year we need to add playing well in the rain to our nal and we'll be unbeatable! Tonight they just looked tired.
Have a good holiday boys and see you all next year. I can't wait!'"
You might find you have dropped a couple of places to at least 5th as there are now four teams above you left in the comp.

Yes there's no doubt on our home playoff form, we would have sent the Saints packing.

| Wow, sorry. Didn't realise that the play-off's altered the final league table.

A great season but in the cold light of day has Tony Smith blew a golden chance of the double?'"
omg its tonys fault, i knew it would be somehow. and that quins game was our league position decider, what a nob you are to even question the great mans decisions, shame on you call yourself a wire fan.

| Just the end of a long hard season, and came up against a battling Saints side and a determined Hudds team. All there is too it really.
I'd swap winning the cup and getting knocked out now, then losing away at Leeds next week and not having a cup.
You didn't even get in the playoffs last year, top 4 was an achievement in itself.

Read the posts by me on this thread. I am not a Wire fan, I made that clear.
Read my avatar. It's clear I am not a Wire fan.
I asked a question. I wondered on peoples opinions. I praised Wire within my opening post.

| Cant complain with another Challenge Cup win and 3rd place in Super League (can you?).
But...I wouldn't have rested anybody that didn't need it at Quins. But I'm not the coach

| It was not a mistake resting players at quins, Smith is still building this team. Next year is when we will be at our best i believe. Smith had done an exceptional job in getting us back to back wembley wins in his first two seasons in charge( 1 and a half if you want to be picky). Our lack of play off experience is what cost us. Saints are experts which is why they easily beat us two weeks ago.

| I think his only mistake has been moving Monas from 9 to 7... as 'steady' as clarke has been (and im not a clarke basher) he looked very pedestrian against Huddersfield, who exploited the gaps around him... Higham showed when he came on that he is the best impact hooker we have at present.
I would like to think that next season, with a full strength team, Monas will start at 9 and higham will be the impact hooker.

That won't happen because smith has picked clarke when we have had a full strength team. Personally i don't understand it as even Bridge (who was superb this season) couldn't just walk back into the side because our backline had performed so well yet clarke gets straight back in despite the form of our two hookers. Weird one for me.

| Clarke played well when he came back, BUT Monas is a 9, he plays best at 9, we win most games with him at 9. I think had Myler played in the final we still would have won.
Dont fix it if it aint broke, myler 7, Monas 9, and clarke or higham for the bench spot, if not both, and use clarke as interchange loose forward for harrison.
But then im not coach, never will be, and next season if we emmulate the success of this year i will be one happy Wire, as i am now, irrelevant of how we have just exited the playoffs.

Does that mean you should give Leeds the couple of league leaders shields you won since they beat you in the grand final?

Could saturdays result have been different if we had Monas at hooker with Clarke at half-back even?
