Why would we wait for 2019? He is available now. I wonder if Roberts will get his release and Eastmond comes in..

With the potential of Brown retiring and Roberts returning to Oz then we need to taking action now rather than later. Like most I’ve not seen much of Eastman over the last few years and his injury record is also a worry. Could we have Eastman and Patton as our halves in 2019?

And rumours about Patton to Wigan which further fuels the fire.

It will take him a few weeks to adjust, not years like someone said.

Plus he’ll likely play stand off. Maybe centre inside Charnley because Atkins keeps passing to Charnley too early, it’s like he’s not got the ball handling skills of s true centre and he’ll move to back row?

There are loads of options for the lad in our team because we have a few non-specialists, utility players and players who are either not good enough or won’t be here long term.

i'm not convinced, saints shipped him out to play centre in his last season before leaving, i seem to recall him being a bit chris bridge esque in style.

Even if Eastmond can get back to being an above average league player (which I don’t have much confidence about) why would we use such a slice of the cap (even with the dispensations) in such a player when that sort of salary would get us a really decent current centre or half? Got nothing against Eastmond but why the sudden love-in over him? He was a good developing player with some faults before he left. Now he’s past his peak in Union and suddenly he’s the answer to our problems? I’d rather take a punt on offering Jake Trueman a huge contract, at least he’s just starting and shows potential. Jordan Turner is a better current stand off option than Eastmond. Or Lui.
