Incidentally, did any of the people getting oh so upset by the chants I posted above ever stand on the terraces of the Fletch or Central Park in the eighties and early to mid nineties?

They were the most popular chants aired by us, and Wigan had plenty similar, week in week out!

Obviously a bit of nostalgic rivalism on the internet is evidence that I'm going to batter everyone in sight tomorrow though. No doubt about it.

I knew what you were on about mate, i never experienced the fletch or CP in the 80's, only born in 89 and started watcing warrington in 93, so won't have remembered much until around 96ish. Those chants were all the rage back then, along with those sorts of chants in the football aswell. I know for a fact that you will not be kicking off at the Wigan match because i don't get that vibe from you, you just seem to like winding people (wiganers) up in that way.

Now that is another football one, i think most football teams sang that around those times, according to stories from my fathers football terrace days.

Arf. The version I know of that is from football and replaces "Wigan fan" with "Cockney".

By the way, before anyone digs out any of my posts where I said I attended my first match in 1994 (true) and sticks my post above about the eighties in their sig, I remember asking the lads at school who supported Wire (I was only into football at the time) what some songs were, and the first thing out their mouths was; "You're going home in a St John ambulance!"

They were primary school kids.



The rest got the odd airing on school trips and cub camps and were probably why I finally started going!
