I feel the same about this match as I did after the final league match at Vape Park last season. We are not a million miles off.
As for the criticism of Austin, when we are so conservative in attack the opposition know if they smother him the job is done.

You can see why Warrington got the chant you did with the responses on this thread. A lot of you were convinced Saints were terrible and you were only second because you'd deliberately lost games, that our forwards were rubbish and your's much better. But for the second time this season you're beaten and scratching your heads. But now it's okay because it's all part of the master plan and if the game had been at Wembley or Old Trafford or if the mercurial Steffan Ratchford had been playing you'd have walked it?

The reality is you are second for a reason. You have clear deficiencies which, if they are not fixed, will mean you win nothing this season. Saints are currently better in every department, outside backs, halfbacks, front row, back row, bench, fitness, defense, attack, discipline. You are still a quality side and capable of improving and winning the double, but the arrogance on here is embarassing when probably none of you were even born when you lost won the top division.

As for being arrogant, there is the odd 12 year old muppet on here and Redvee, but the majority are pretty level headed, we've been burned too many times not to be.

I do agree with this. Saint's have a better side and are top for a reason. Far more threatening with the ball. If we could fix our deficiencies then I think we could compete to a certain level. If we do improve I think if we played Saints 10 times we would win 3-4 of the games on balance. Our hope is that one of those is when it's knock out football.

I am embarrassed by some of the posts saying "we decimated Saints in the forwards" or "we would have won but for the forward pass". Rubbish Saints in that 2nd half shut us down completely. We didn't look like scoring.

I don't think were far off, and as the old saying goes that in knock out football anything can happen. For me, our pack matched Saints, until we were a man down (yellow card harsh for me, no contact with the head from what I've seen), the forward pass and penalty not being given for the high tackle on Lineham, helped to contribute to our downfall. On a different day, we could have seen a different result, but that's all if's and buts and Saints got the two points. However, the opportunity to win was there, and we must learn from the game to make better choices in future encounters (not just against Saints). The season is far from done.

It was an even game and our attack is a long way behind saints but they didn't look like scoring either until John Elway got involved. Holbrook comments re Sita...completely unnecessary and inaccurate.

You beat us 3 times last season and then we won when it matters. It's not over yet. You needed to get away with one of the most blatant forward passes I've ever seen to win that game. Even so it was by 11, hardly a battering! on another night it could have gone the other way. I don't think yoy will find many of our fans who believe we are going to pick up silverware this season but it's far too early to write us (and Hull) off yet.
