see my problem with this is, what isnt quantified, last year he made a point of not making tackles at all, therefore, that wont get marked as a missed tackle, he's still been doing this a bit this year.

I can't make my mind up with currie(although I certainly wouldn't have given him THREE years!). We all know about his class and ability, but its his attitude and desire which are sometimes what let him down. Some weeks, such as catalans away chasing down that penalty try kick, he looks like he's well up for it. Yet other weeks, like Salford at home where he let's sneyd score straight past him without making an attempt, he looks like he just can't be bothered. He's a frustrating player, that's for sure.

What are the club trained dispensations mate?

Currie to me is a bit of flair player. Great for the line break, fast and skilful but in tough grind of a game, is unlikely to head to the middle of the field and take a tough carry.

Ah okay, cheers. I didn't realise this had changed also. Maybe he's accepted a much reduced wage for a longer deal and is happy at the club.

I believe he has taken a pay cut. Currie can still be a pretty devastating attacking second row when he's up for it, we could just with another second row that gives us some size in that area.

Top player. Would have been gutted to have lost him. We would struggle to find another like him over in SL at 28 or under.

Rapidly coming to the conclusion that the club is in serious need of a top to bottom shake up. Giving bang average players like currie 3 years just confirms in my mind that we are not moving forwards at all.... quite the opposite in fact.

Currie must have been thinking of how lucky he was with his contract when that pass from Williams ballooned out of his bread basket with the line begging. 3 years is absolutely criminal. Compare his performance yesterday with that of Liam Farrell.

Liam Farrell has a completely different mental attitude than Ben Currie

Liam Farrell is a superb player. Leads by example, uncompromising, disciplined, aggressive, good hands, great lines and you get the feeling he would die for the cause. There is no accusation of show pony about him.

Yes, he is all of that and like any player that signs with Wigan has the "you will die for this club" mantra drummed in.

Currie's drop near the end summed it up for me - lack of focus and intent. Most of the other players were poor but he only seems to play well when everyone else has done the hard work and set the platform. He would have been one of the players I'd have replaced last year.

I’m happy with a 3 year deal for Currie.
