| After watching tonight's shocking performance watching my beloved club for 29 years I feel these players/coach will kill this club. Never have I felt so dis-heartened as I feel at the moment. The board have to take stock or ship out themselves now. The feel good factor with the new stadium have gone and the fans are leaving in the droves. I remember the last season at wilderspool seeing some of the best rugby in years with Nat Wood pulling the strings. A distant cry from tonight dismal performance. Rant over.

That is when the club started going down, Why did Cull let Nat Wood go, his biggestr error of all. The rest off the team respected him and seemed to admire him, he was the only one that could captain the team and keep his head. Top Bloke

| I agree, exactly what we need is a bloke in his late thirties with severe neck injuries. Why not sign Phil Clarke, too?

Because i know things about him that would make your toes curl and that is my opinion of him. Like i said he was a very good player but in no way should he be mentioned in the same breath when talking about such legends.
Maybe compare him with the likes of Briers but come on get real, Mike Gregory was a real Legend, a gentleman and a true hero to many people around the world, Wood was an arrogant self serving mercinary.

| How come we never achieved much whe we had Nat Wood? We made the playoffs 2 out of 4 seasons he was here and both times we got beat in the first round of the playoffs. He used to play down the left hand side and the left hand side of the field never scored any tries, unless he scored them.
Not having a go at Nat Wood who was a good player and he put 100% in but we shouldn't go overboard about him, when he was here he copped a lot of criticism. His passing and kicking was nothing to write home about, his main strength was he was a good runner of the ball and his defence was sound. What Wood did that his successors haven't, is made contributions at important parts of the game, you could see him stepping up a gear and taking control sometimes, Sullivan and Monaghan haven't done that.
As for "Warrington Wolves RIP", things can change very quickly in sport especially under the current rules where there is no relegation and a top eight system. We could have a shocking first half of the season then if we get the right coach in who turns things around, climb up into one of the lower playoff places and if we are in form at that stage of the season we could cause an upset or two in the playoffs, we have the calibre of players to do it. That would set us up well for a strong season in 2010.
In 1999 Brisbane won one and drew one of their first eight games, and Langer quit, they were in turmoil, but they got it together at the end of the season, made the playoffs and set themselves up to win the NRL the next year.

I agree.
It's funny how history blinds the memory. I don't remember many people on here praising him the night he failed to find touch at Wigan and they went on to score and win the game.
Wood, although I personally liked his style and commitment, was not the be all and end all, he was very inconsistent.

Yes but nobody knew that, Not even Nathan. He played right till the death. It wasnt till he got home to oz that he was told that, but it never got a straight answer anyway cause a second opinion wasnt confirmed as the same as the first. So the fact of the matter is he got tossed aside for sullivan

Excellent call. Brisbane and Warrington. If I was going to pick a team in Super League that is most like Brisbane, Warrington is definitely the first team that springs to mind. Believe!

| Nat wood Was a typical 100%er yes he wasnt an Andy Gregory but he had a confidence about him that rubbed off on other players so much so it was quite noticeable
I remember his come back from injury and we played Bradford at the HJ we'd been poor without him but his first touch of the ball was to scoot from Dummy half he picked it up one handed and made a trade mark break down that left flank and just oozed confidence / cockyness call it what you want but Monaghan hasnt got it... and the team hasnt had it since Nat Wood left....

| Nathan Wood was a decent individual, capable of moments of brilliance and equally frustration. What he did posess were qualities which the average man could relate to, if any of us were lucky enough to pull on the P&B, we have ideas of what we'd be like, but what you know is that your pride in that jersey would mean that you'd give 100% every week, you'd push your body to the absolute point of breaking, you'd lead by example and you'd probably do some pretty ordinary stuff, but when you did, nobody would be able to accuse you of not trying, maybe trying too hard, but not trying, and that was he. I was always felt & still feel you need a bit more than that from your halves, but right now you'd take just having that.
We all call him a 'trier' and that's probably a little unfair, he was a bit better than that, but most of his qualities benefitted his game in the main, and were not creative qualities.

| so as a supposed replacement for Adrian Lam at Wigan RLFC he musnt have been that bad then....???
plus he didnt play like he was on his way to another club did he....
he was 31 it would have been his last contract i didnt give a toss back then i still dont now. we have not replaced him thats a fact
I can think of a couple of names that i'd wish were linked with Wigan right now.
