Josh Charnley….running down the wing ‘Charnley’…
Elaborate Charnley till the end of this season, apparantley. Yikes. I quite like Charnley and he will become our best uninjured winger so I can't complain. Although I am suprised given the recent history.

| My own theory why King has suddenly become a winger is that he may be better under a high ball than Wrench ... but who knows? Charnley is fine by me. How Charnley left us means nowt as we've moved on. A small step in the right direction ... we need more players as we are struggling & a few more injuries could scupper us even more. No time to be picky as we are in the brown.

| Oh dear. If this has been rumbling on for a couple of weeks it might explain a few things. We know the Aussies stick together and even those that weren't here during Maguire's time here may well side with their countrymen. If it is true and Burgess can galvanise everybody then great. If not I can see a 10 game losing streak. Perhaps another example of the "refer a friend" recruitment incentive. Ratchford - Matty Russell. Fitzgibbon - Yates & Stone (all Knights) Powell & Williams - Charnley.
I can't see us troubling Wigan or Hull KR even if we do make the play offs so would prefer to stick with the future for the rest of the year.
So far I reckon we have named starting line ups with 6 different wingers. Ashton, Thewlis x 2, king, Lindop and that lad from Leeds RU. Charnley would be 7. That has to be some sort of record.

We have beaten Saints 3 times and Leeds & competed with HKR but the idea that we could compete with HKR or Wigan at the end of the season is simply not a goer. We are wafer thin but young uns need to be good enough or they get hurt. The old pros line 'em up and hit them hard.

| We allowed Powell to take Noah Booth off us for a free leaving present and later Hull KR signed him from Wakefield when they too recognised the kids talent.
We now are rumoured to be looking to recruit a winger who is in his thirties as a stop gap panic signing, when Booth could have played there in Ashton's absence.
What the hell is going on at our club, we should be retaining our young players.
The lack of nous in the Wire hierarchy is unbelievable.

| So basically the Wingers in our reserves and the academy and the lad out on loan are not good enough, just wow.

Obviously some youngsters might be fine. But in general I would be very careful just how you introduce them to a very tough sport. The simple idea that the next player in the team below just steps up is madness. Academy players are miles off physically. They get crunched or eaten alive ... unless of course you are Alex Murphy. Best if they can be introduced steadily.

| The player currently keeping Charnley out of the Leigh 1st team is Keanan Brand.
A young player that we recruited from Widnes, but was released to Leigh on a freebie by Wire, without being given a proper chance.
Leigh are off loading Charnley now and if we sign him, it illustrates the incompetence of the Wire succession plan for our team.

| The next man up is often preached by most clubs. I suppose it is meant to motivate those not in the first team. In reality (and being a cynical sod) it ought to be "next man up when it suits".

That's an excellent example.
