In terms of coaching I would be sounding out McNamara right now. I mean Sam is lining up other jobs so we can have no issue with lining up his replacement.
McNamara as a coach has had national and international experience (assistance head coach in the NRL, coach of the national side). He has won a Challenge Cup, League Leaders shield and made 2 Grand Final appearances in recent years.
I like McNamara too and he has excellent credentials. But without more sweeping change behind the scenes I bet it would be a repeat of the Powell experience. Continuing dysfunction and in about a year this forum would be full of fans blaming 'McBanana' for team selection / stuff he said in interviews after defeats and demanding a coaching change. Then he'd go somewhere else and do better than us. Yes agreed. Behind the scenes needs to change or nothing will.

If you’re having a laugh, getting leathered with the players after pitiful defeats or jumping back on your hired private jet after a Las Vegas debacle - you don’t really care do you? You don’t really hurt watching us fail and fail again. Especially as a Yorkshireman with zero ties to the town, happy to take the money and the publicity to put himself in the shop window for his much-longed-for return to Aus. No that was Lomax - director. Loves socialising with the players.

Interesting that Abe tweeted over the weekend that there are
only three people who oversee every recruitment and retention decision and that
these three people don’t receive half as much criticism as others. They are:
Simon Moran
Stuart Middleton
Mike Lomax
The 'top 3 triangle' are ultimately responsible for the sanctioning of new signings & extending the contracts of players, with plenty of input from the Director Of Rugby and the senior coaching staff, as well as advisors that are used in Australia. It's their money that's being spent afterall. But nobody seems to mention them when criticising the clubs structure & on/off field results, which I suspect is down to the money they've put in to the club over the years. Imagine what position we'd be in now without them, especially SM. I don't think you can criticize them then, the club are paying people to advise and they are taking on board the advice given. The serious lack of quality falls on the people giving this advise. I have zero knowledge of who we use and if its the same people but if it is, after decades of poor recruitment with the odd exception id be cutting ties with no leaving card.

Plenty of Man United fans criticise Jim Ratcliffe and he's invested billions. I get it that two of the directors have put seven figures into the club (as director's loans) but that's a very small percentage of their net worth, so let's get it into perspective. They are not "doing us a favour" or "saving the club", they are doing it for themselves and their own interests. This does not make them immune from criticism, no they have a massive responsibility as they are the temporary custodians of a club that belongs to the town with a sporting heritage of nearly 150 years. Without the ongoing support of the "fans"* they own absolutely nothing but a rectangular patch of grass and a rusting stadium. I have more sympathy for the fans on the bones of their ar$e$ with nothing who shell out hundreds of pounds (they don't have) for family season tickets year in, year out to watch continual under performance and under achievement with the only interest in them from the clown in chief being how much merchandising tat, edgy street wear, and watered down beer he can sell them. *Fans in quotes just for Smithy.

When you say 'the club are paying people to advise' I assume you're referring to our Director Of Rugby & senior coaching staff ?

Yeah but more so aimed at the advisors we use in Australia, i just find it bizarre and a waste of club/investors money constantly bringing players over that don't cut it

But if you think there's a network of pro scouts or advisors etc then you're barking up the wrong tree. Sounds crazy doesn't it !!! Simon Moran speaks to a few people who've advised him, but they certainly don't get paid ie, Andrew Johns, Jim Bannaghan, Russell Crowe, Phil Gould etc. Well, I say Phil Gould, but that's another chapter for my book.
