| The momentum rule....a forward pass should be called as a forward pass. The technology is there .

There is ball tracking technology (cricket is a great example) but not so sure if it works tracking a balls movement in relation to it's speed at the time of release (rather than the ground). Also I imagine Sky are unlikely to pay for it. i.e) a flat pass from a player running will always be forward with respect to the pitch.

| I would love to see what happens if there is ever a challenge for a forward pass in the build up to a try. The VR would go into meltdown.
As for short kick offs ,surely a boot upfield is better , a good defensive set & you could get the ball back on half way.

(10m/marker oHside, ruck infringements relating to the speed of the play the ball, tackled into
touch or in-goal after the held call); the mark of a penalty; time wasting; dissent; deliberate
forward pass; scrum penalties.

| Or thane:
Short kick offs that every team seems to be obsessed with now, i hate seeing it constantly being used. And yeah like said above people playing the ball not where they were tackled, taking a few steps forward or moving sideways before they play the ball. Paul Vaughan does it alot.
Short kicks cost Brisbane a Grand Final, they had a big lead but kept going short at drop outs. I hate them.

| One I’ve been saying is the smart meter animation on video ref decisions waiting for it to go back and to, which increases the time taken. Jon Wilkin then mentioned it on The Bench podcast.
Maybe show sponsor at the start for a few seconds when the video ref is getting ready anyway. After the decision go straight to sponsor themed Try/No Try.
The shot clock - it was brought in to speed up drop outs and scrums but now teams just wait for the clock to count down. Reduce the time, or even get rid and give the referee control over the restart again.

Agree with both of these. The clock is a massive bugbear of mine. There are massive inconsistencies in how the game is played and lots of potential game time is wasted. Just as an example, if a defending team concedes a dropout, there should be a 20-25 second shot clock on the restart. But the match clock should be stopped completely, so the attacking team doesn't lose any benefit from having forced the dropout. Instead, especially at the end of a half, we see the team dropping out milling about for 30 seconds while the time is run off the match clock. Rubbish.

| Why do teams loft the ball high in the air from a kick off..why not hit it low and hard and make the ball bounce all over the place..more so in the summer months when it's peeing down

Good point. A low, hard kick towards the touchline would be difficult to defend and would give you a fair chance of getting the ball back. I suppose the skill is ensuring that the ball bounces before going out of play, but practicing skills is what training sessions are for.
