Unless the powers that be pull their socks up ,whether coaching staff or players, the club might not be considered good enough for any reduction in superleague clubs.

Powell met wholesale opposition from the established clique of Warrington players who put their own selfish self-interests first.
He had a clear-out which was very painful but the remaining players supported their mates and went on a go slow until the Board of Directors sacked Powell.
But just who are these players though that spanned Powell's era and into this one? Are we saying it's some of the following that went on a go slow?? Ashton King Currie Philbin Williams Ratchford Harrison Walker "Quote" Some of them on your list certainly were, King was shown the door by Powell and should have been exchanged with Jake Wardell, if the club`s hierarchy had any nous. Dufty isn`t mentioned by you, he was recruited by Powell but joined the dissenter`s camp in wanting rid of Powell. I was replying to Lord Tony Smith`s post about why Powell didn`t achieve at Wire when he has done well everywhere else. The club`s Board blinked first, player power won the day and we are still suffering now from it. Thanks. I wasn't knocking you it was a genuine question (apologies that I missed Dufty out). There is nobody in our squad we need to tolerate that behaviour from. None of them are good enough to be un-droppable or handled with kid gloves. Just smacks of weakness from the leadership. |

He took Castleford from bottom of the league to winning the League Leaders Shield and runner up in the GF - yes Castleford! He's obviously a pretty competent coach. It just tells me that their are bigger issues at the club than the coach and probably Ivan Cleary would struggle here. As I've said before we've had a CEO for years who seems more interested in planning Wolfie's next stunt and accumulating likes on Twitter rather than results and performances on the rugby field. Chambers is currently DOR - based on what? He was coaching the kids a couple of years ago. We seem to hand out job roles to people based on sentiment and whether they are a decent bloke or not. You wouldn't think we have two ruthless multimillionaire businessmen as owners of the club. We are anything but ruthless. Whoever was in charge of recruitment this season should have been shown the door a couple of weeks ago. How can all our signings be playing reserve grade because none of them are good enough? Two ruthless businessmen who are clearly good in the field that generates them a healthy income, makes you think this is just their train set and don?t have to be as ruthless. Yes they have put a lot of money into the club but then they can afford to can?t they. The other point that niggles me is the jobs for the boys. I appreciate that we have had some great players in the past but I don?t have room for sentiment in sport. I know there are people out there that are happy with the just taking part is great. I?m sorry that?s not for me sport is about winning. As you say our CEO is all about the next gimmick because they believe that will get the people in the stadium, well I?m sorry to say that is utter bo***cks results are what that matters and I have witnessed it, I saw all the empty spaces around me when we have been poor. People stay if we are winning it?s that simple. The gimmicks are fine if you have a winning culture, but we don?t have it then we as fans suffer the backlash from opposing fans when it backfires. Given how things are now I?m not even sure Alex Ferguson could have sorted this lot out. Player power wins because we don?t have the player base in the UK to replace the dissenters. I hope to god we get onboard with the NRL. I wonder if it's a coincidence we ended up on this downward trajectory following the appointment of Stuart Middleton to the board in 2015 then chairman in 2017. I know that Gatcliffe ran a tidy ship and we had our best seasons in decades under him. ?I have been a lifelong fan of Warrington Wolves and it?s weird to think that I am now the main man making all the decisions,? I have no clue. I may be doing him a real disservice as I realise he puts his hand in his pocket (but in reality the sums are chump change to him). Does he have final say on recruitment? Who knows what is going on. In the previous year`s close season the players were subjected to army camp training, last close season the players went on a jolly for warm weather "training".
The trip to Vegas was a fiasco and the players and some staff treated it as a holiday, which was incredibly unprofessional for the club.
I agree with other posters about the recruitment for this season which was appalling and I include the decision to enact the option to allow Tai to play this season by the club, when the option for the 2nd was in the club`s favour.

In the previous year`s close season the players were subjected to army camp training, last close season the players went on a jolly for warm weather "training".

I agree with other posters about the recruitment for this season which was appalling and I include the decision to enact the option to allow Tai to play this season by the club, when the option for the 2nd was in the club`s favour.
Grrrrrr. Do you know 1. Who in the club hierarchy sees this "jolly" behaviour and permits it? Bad enough for players but inexcusable for staff. In normal jobs that would be gross misconduct. 2. Who decided to take up the option on Tai? |

Warrington is fast becoming a graveyard for managers & coaches. Sam will be very lucky to earn any dividends for a triumphant return for a top job in Oz.

It was clear from the beginning that this club was a stepping stone for Burgess to land the dream NRL gig. This season it?s all out the window and maybe that shows in his recent interviews and the supposed petulance. The way the squad is this season is as much his fault in the way he as been conducting himself, partying with Beaumont in Vegas and other such things. Monkey see monkey do springs to mind.
And then if he is behaving the way some seem to think he is then what are his employers doing about it. The club is a mess from the top down. Also I think when it comes to contracts they need to be less hasty in handing new ones out just because we win 3 games and look world beaters.
