He is however, one of the few decent hookers coming through the system. And the current England choice. I’d be gutted if we’d lost him to be developed at Saints, in order to keep a player who is very good but ageing, on a 3 year contract.
Hopefully he’ll flourish under Burgess, and be allowed to play to his strengths behind a decent pack. |

I’d be surprised too, though the point stands. If we had kept Clark and allowed Walker to leave, it would be the opposite to what most want to happen, opportunities given to younger players. I don’t think keeping both was a realistic option, they both wanted to be first choice 9.
I don’t believe Saints would have signed Clark if they had Walker either. |
