As a supporter of both the Wire and the Yellows (the name the supporters give town) im not sure if we have bought the rights,

Gary Skents is the Chairman of the club so might be the best person to ask.

As for this season the club have hopes for promotion this season following the appointment of Shaun Reid (brother of Peter) as manager.

However the football league dream has been around for the last 5 years and we have not moved in the league pyramid and could do with a few more people from warrington to come and watch icon_biggrin.gif .

Ha ha I'm a Liverpool supporter, and yes it was meant to be a wind up. To be honest I would say there's still more Everton than City fans in the town.

Didn't realise that Warrington Town used to get crowds of 1,500 a couple of decades ago, not bad for a non-league side that. How much does the ground these days?

The 1,500 crowds were only for big cup games - the average league gate in the 1990s was 200-300 when the team was winning on a regular basis.
Average was 200 last season and hoping to try and double that this season with a promotion chasing team.
Official capacity is 1,500 but ground could accommodate 3,000.
Admission is £8 adults £5 concessions £2 for Under 18s and Free to all kids aged under 12.
Playing Crewe United from Northern Ireland in the Peace Cup this Saturday, kick off 3pm - admission just £5 & £2.50. Kids free.
A great chance to see a warrington team winning silverware.

Warrington RLFC: The Wire, NOT Warrington Wolves FORZA WIRE:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_46584.jpg

I went to Warrington Town V Gresley Rovers once with my mate from uni who supports Gresley and actually came to visit me for the weekend specifically for the purpose of attending that fixture.

We sat behind the dugout and the manager was screaming instructions at some player called "Bodge" and having a go at him. I was leathered and just sarcastically, and loudly, shouted "Yeah, for f*** sake Bodge!" which resulted in the manager turning round and giving me the sort of look that says "Go and stand as far away from me as you can right now or I'm going to Eric Cantona you".

It was a good day out.

You have to be careful at giving out stick at that level. I once saw a lad, about 18 but hanging around with a load of 14 year olds giving loads of racial abuse to an opposition player with all the 14 year olds laughing and hanging on to every word. When the player heard he climbed over the fence, into the stand and pinned the lad up against the back of the stand, threatening to smash his face in. He was quiet as a mouse after that. icon_biggrin.gif

We once give Tommy Hutchinson some stick about his own goal in the '81 cup final. When we saw that it was getting to him, we followed him around the pitch giving him grief. Every time he took a corner there was someone giving it to him. He scored a last minute equaliser, ran over to where we were stood and said, "That wasn't an own goal lads". Warrington went on to win in extra time, cue more abuse for the rest of the game. He didn't hang around getting off the pitch at the end.
