The Lancashire V Yorkshire game was a bit of a farce, a few years ago John Monie used to pull all the Wigan players out of the team to save injuries and the same would happen in today's game.

forget lancs v yorks what about really trying to push a league equivalent of 6 nations...probably at the moment it'd have to be 4 (england, france, wales) but i think it could be a top competition especially once celtic have developed (hopefully) like catalans did and scotland may come into it too

would be an ideal breeding ground for success in end of season 4-nations comp against aus & nz for england and france by providing the players with a step up in intensity and a real goal for players during the early start of the season

play each other home and away, that provides 4 games each, scrap the extra round of superleague at murrayfield or wherever
