| What I don't understand (apart from Chinese writing) is why Carney plays on the right wing, when he played on the left all his time at Cas. Also why is Johnson on the left wing when he has played on the right the last few seasons ?

| It's to unsettle them and pre-empt any move to Australia!

| I've noticed that both of them have been coming in off the wings, so perhaps the tactic is to play a bit narrower.

| Carney plays any narrower he may aswell be on the other wing.
Wigan exposed him numerous times, Cas fans have also mentioned this so it must be a trait of his rather than tactics.

| To be honest we are not using carney like Cas did. We play him outside a centre who will not pass then if he does Carney is stood still. I know Sau is a fans favourite but we need a centre who's going to feed Carney to get the best out of him. Carney running onto a ball at speed is unstoppable.

| We may never see the best of him outside a centre of Shentons calibre (I've mentioned the Carney / Shenton - try / assist ratio previously on another thread), as he's only a season loan.

| Think Sa'u is one of the best backs this year.
For me Carney should be told to hit the ball up in every set of 6 as he is incredibly destructive. I can't wait to see Vidot back in a backline of Carney, Sau, Jones, Griffin, Vidot - bigger than a few packs.

| [iCarney's switch to the other wing is probably to do with his injury he sustained last year. He dislocated his right elbow to which there maybe still a slight risk of him repeating this rather painful injury. So switching to the right wing he'll carry the ball naturally in your right hand which then leaves his left hand to do them awesome face palms instead of his vulnerable right arm hand off. That's why i think he's switched wings due to the vulnerability of a repeat dislocation. [/i

Correct mate, watch some of Shenny's assists. He didn't try to create an overlap but the Cas tactics were always designed to get the ball to Justin with a 10 metre run at his opposite winger. Its just another bit of Powell's forward thinking as I don't recollect seeing it done any where else.

| We're definitely playing him in a different way. While he isn't receiving walk-in tries his size and power is being utilized in a different manner. One befitting a side that lets a strong backline take pressure off its forwards. He's been given much more free reign to get his hands on the ball all over the pitch and one look at the stats on the Superleague site shows Carney as the leagues top metre maker. He's also third in tackle busts. I think it shows that he's been given a different role to play other than being on the end of walk-in tries, and is doing it well.

| You don't have a back line the size of ours and don't utilize that power, think it is a bit of genius from the club with the reduced interchanges to make the props smaller and the backs bigger, what they have done in effect is make the entire team (halves aside) capable of taking a hit up.
Seriously can't wait until Vidot is back, 4 huge battering rams in the backs but all with a bit of toe and skill.
