Devils Defeat Wildcats in 8s ThrillerTwo teams from the Super League had clean slates and a chance to re-start their season in defence of their Super League status. The Red Devils were still reeling from the 'resignation' of Theo Fages and hosted a Wakefield Wildcats side showing a resurgence of form under new coach Brian Smith.
Both sides knew that two points from this afternoons match could be the early key to unlock their Super League survival while defeat would put them in a massive dog fight against the best that the 2015 Championship had on offer.
With home advantage and two wins over their opponent already this season, Salford Red Devils were the favourites.

| Great win today despite the attempts of camp Theo to throw a spanner in the works. Hopefully no one else is going to drag up alleged breaches of contract from over a year ago in the week building up to the Leigh game, and we can actually have a pre match build up without any dramas for once.

| Couldn't make the game but watched on the Sky Sports App.
John Wells was a top class summariser.
Everybody's mentioning Rangi picking up the ball and going full length, but wasn't it Junior who gathered and passed it on to him.
Needed that after the interceptions.
Despite Smiths usual performance against us, the fact is that Dobson ran the show.
Don't want Theo to leave, and he's obviously going to,but we had our best 2 halves out there today.
Staggered that he started with BJB at full back but it was a very good call.
The play offs are about winning, end of.

[quote="Gotcha":y7izhg01]Salford won't win Super League in my lifetime. Even saying in jest they would sounds stupid.[/quote:y7izhg01]: |

| First half was near perfect, our completion rate must have been in the 90's. Switched off in the last minute and gifted Wakefield a lifeline. It was obvious they were going to come out with their tails up in the second half and they did. There play of the balls were much quicker, they ran onto the ball harder and we didn't step up our game accordingly. Our previous discipline problems came back to bite us too as we continually gifted Wakefield possession. When Wakefield went for the 2 points, it made absolutely no difference to the scoreboard and we needed to score regardless. I think the team knew at that point the game was there for the taking and when we got a similar penalty minutes later, we tapped it and Paterson went in under the sticks for a 6 pointer.
Delighted with the enthusiasm and team spirit on show.
