I wanted to share with you a story I have posted on NothingButLeague about Salford's culture right now.
It was disappointing to hear on the weekend that Salford's official twitter feed criticised the fans for not turning up to AJ Bell Stadium, their lowest crowd since Koukash took ownership of the club.
I think there's a poor culture and unfortunately it comes from the top with Koukash and has fed down to a few spectators getting into trouble last weekend for their behaviour.
The story designed to invigorate debate and maybe in this situation do the fans need to lead by example and remember the past before creating the future. What would Gus Risman, or Lance Todd think of what's happening at this proud club right now?

| It's a very short piece, so is not heavy on balanced opinion. You wont get many of us arguing that the Club seems to be constantly taking a step forward and two backwards with its comments on social media. This is not helped by our owner or Martin Vickers who seem to pump this out fairly often. The only thing that can be said is that MK is the owner and he can do what he wants, doesn't make it right, and it isn't really setting a great example as the rest of the Club follow his lead. I guess, until I contribute a couple of million quid into the Club, my opinion wont change anything.
The simple fact remains that without MK Salford wouldn't exist, so I'm eternally thankful for his personal input. It doesn't put him beyond criticism by any means, but the way I see it is that regardless of what happens since he saved my Club, it's a bonus. Every match I see is one more than I would have.
I wouldn't put much stall in what Youngquest says as he has a personal vendetta against our coach Iestyn Harris. The same way Gary Schofield does because we didn't rate his son good enough to sign.
I don't think there's anything wrong with our 'Culture'. One glance at our previous administration's culture would have made your hair curl, and makes MK look like a sleek and professional outfit. That's not to say it's perfect. Far from it. But in the short time MK has been with us he's trying hard and getting a lot right as well as some wrong. That's how the real world works. We only ever seem to read these negative opinion pieces when we drop down the table. In this case, we are four points from 4th! During a time when we've had to cobble together a side.
So the 'Crisis' really is our injury and bans. If we didn't have them we wouldn't be four points behind 4th, and you wouldn't be writing your, I'm sorry to say, regurgitated pretend crisis bit.

You're right, there isn't a 'crisis' in the literal term that is SL wide. On a personal Club level, we have an injury and ban crisis. At no point did I say we were unique or worse than anyone else, it's still a crisis for us though. As for expectations, they're subjective. Yours will be different than mine. Neither are wrong.
So all in all, a pretty pointless post from you really, that contributed nothing...

Harsh but fare are kid.
I cringe now when I see the Doc or Vickers takes to anti-social media, a club with real ambition would have someone take care of that side of the business, used correctly it is a limitless tool (much like spegs) but allow someone too run their mouth off and it often does more harm than good.

| If there was a negative tweet about the fans in National Rugby League by one of their clubs, there would be outrage among rugby league supporters and media (as mentioned in the article). I think there needs to be a little more maturity in regards to the social media aspect of Salford and by their manager. Right now the attitude doesn't breathe success.

Thank you for your words of wisdom Mr Russell Crowe, hopefully MK will read them and digest them

| I will obviously be eternally grateful to MK for saving the club! Without him we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.
I find some of his Twitter rants and outbursts to be cringe worthy though!
I sometimes wish he'd just close his account down and remain anonymous for a while! Take a leaf out of Simon Moran's book at Warrington.
He quietly gets on with things without resorting to taking to social media every 5 minutes!
And as for Vickers, I'm not his biggest fan!
I hate it when he says "no excuses not to come to the ............ match"! There's plenty of reason not to go Martin!
It's your job to make us want to come! Not just sit and moan about why nobody does!

| To think the club almost folded makes some of the comments you see a bit harsh , you've got to ask why the club almost folded as if we had a large enough fan base then this would likely not have been an issue. We aren't a Wigan , Saints etc in terms of fans and might never get to that , what we do have like most clubs is a core following that probably go home and away week in and out but we need to tap into what makes these people do that. Things such as all the fixture changes , stadium etc don't help but the same people turn up so it's obiously as much as an issue for them. We need consistency though in terms of performances and staff , don't think you can have one without the other. Salford rugby isn't the most attractive team to support , you don't see new football fans supporting the smaller teams , they affiliate themselves with Chelsea , Utd , City etc due to success so think it's a bit of catch 22 to get loads of new fans , we need to get the old fans back as they'll more than likely still look for results but are stuck in a rut of not going , I was the same for the last few years at the Willows as I couldn't identigy with a lot of the players anymore , constant personel changes , false dawns , just look at players like Phil Bailey , Feka , bought in but ultimatley failed to deliver. I can identify with players such as HH , Moz , Theo etc but struggled with likes of Hock as you knew they were coming for the ££'s and not to play for Salford

There was me thinking it was just supporters of other English clubs who took time out to criticize Salford.
When it rained a little in Cronulla recently was there much written about there decrease in attendance?
Over here in Blighty there were some starting building an ark, such was the monsoon weather.
I think a lot of folk would prefer to watch the game on a television in preference to risking watching the game having got drenched on way to the game and sitting soaked for the travel home.
Youngquest signed and played under owners Moss and Roberts - please fell free to contact Red Passion;website for supporters of Wrexham FC (soccer club )
Then you will know all you need to know about quality sports club owners.
It may surprise you to know that an intelligent person was born in Leigh. He escaped from there, got a university education and has done a very good job at Wigan Warriors, and also at the club which now shares the AJ Bell Stadium with Salford. They play the other code and are named Sale.
The very rare, intelligent person from Leigh,is named Mick Hogan and is part of the other code preparing for their World Cup,in Blighty, later this year.
He boosted the attendances at every club he has been involved with.
What Salford lack, due to their dearth of success over generations,is familial support. Some of the conduct of some of their fanbase is also 'unwelcoming'.
rlSTORYrl
I struggle to see how the use of social media to demonstrate disappointment with attendances should be detrimental - unless those who attend the games feel otherwise.
I have noticed you offered no solution to the problem.'Supporters' in Blighty are just the same.
All typing - No action.Even I can manage that.

| I think as rugby league fans, we all tend to get a little jealous of other clubs good fortune. Hence the constant over reaction the every little comment Marwan makes. The trouble is everything the club has tried to achieve over the best part of a decade, maybe a little longer, has backfired. Everything from trying to sign better players to a family funday being washed out by the weather, has fallen to bad luck.
There's no doubt the club has lost its identity, partly due to the new ground, but given time and a run of results things will.improve again. Just look at the crowd we had for the Wigan game. We're not too far off, and if Dobson hadn't been unfortunate enough to get injured at the same time as Chase's suspension, we would still be pushing for the top four.
As for Koukash, people I know that have met Koukash, and whose opinions on many thing I respect greatly, talk about him with praise and have nothing but good things to say. Maybe he would be better advised to keep his opinions to himself, but would that sort of person be so willing to pump his millions into the club we've all followed for a large part of our lives. I like the fact he wears his heart on his sleeve and shows a passion for what his doing. keep up the good work Marwan.
