| A reminder that Victoria is shut so the journey needs to be on the Piccadilly route.
I asked about this as
the Piccadilly trains stop at Staleybridge and then onto Huddersfield
whereas the Victoria trains are stoppers and allow the punters to enjoy ale stops at Greenfield (the Railway), Marsden (the Riverhead establishment : some walking needed here) and Slaithwaite (you pronounce it as if you are drunk) (The Commercial) before reaching Huddersfield.
Apparently the Huddrsfield trains to Vic will go to and from Ashton and can be joined at Staleybridge if you want these three extra stops.
Vic to Aston will be replacement bus service only.

| Living in Tameside I did the stopper from Ashton last year it was a very good day out and I will be doing it again this year.
Planning on getting the 12:07 from Ashton.
If anyone wants an alternative route the tram from Eccles to Ashton will drop you off a few minutes walk from Ashton railway station.

| think it's because good friday, traditionally isn't a holiday in Huddersfield, monday are tuesday are, so it allows people to finish work early ( which is a tradition) and still get to the game, also allows families to attend should they wish to do other things during the day.

| There's a cracking pub in Huddersfield named The Sportsman, definitely worth visiting. You turn left as you walk out of the station and it's a couple of minutes down the road.

| Yes, those who worry about the mix of gases in their lager should steer clear:
as for real ale fans, please ignore it has been Camra pub of the year three times, serves tapas and has about 8 wickets. I'm ancient and need to sit down.

We had an all-dayer in Huddersfield a couple of years back on Easter Tuesday. Dead. Must have been working.
