Gareth Hock whose time at Salford appears to be up
Bosses of the Salford Red Devils are poised to allow banned back rower Gareth Hock to leave the club on a free transfer.
Confirmation of this is expected soon with Reds ready to act after Hock landed a six match ban by the RFL last week.
Hock was told not to train last week at Salford and ordered to go home to ‘‘get himself sorted’’.
He was due to have talks with owner Marwan Koukash to discuss his future.
Reds appear to have run out of patience with Hock due to his poor disciplinary record.
Hock was said to be frustrated with how Reds performed last time out in the 52-6 home defeat by Saints.
If he is forced out of Salford, Hock is said to have expressed an interested in joining Super League hopefuls Leigh having heard good reports of the way coach Paul Rowley is developing the club.
Meanwhile, the Scottish RU’s chief executive Mark Dodson has confirmed he was contacted by Salford on Sunday to say he had their permission to speak - if he wanted to - with Kevin Locke to discuss his future.
The Scottish boss made it quite clear, Locke was not being chased by them.
The Scots seem to feel they have nothing to lose from chatting to Locke with a World Cup coming up.
Tony Puletua is another high profile Reds star who has been discussing his future with his advisors after being overlooked for first team duties.

| I think this is a great decision by the club. Just like Manchester City got rid of Tevez and Balotelli you don't want trouble causers in the dressing room.
It will be interesting to see who the replacement is some people are already linking him with Leigh and think we should bring in Brierley.
I'm not sure this is the greatest idea after just getting shut of the best half back in the league last season Marc Sneyd. Although...
Brierley has already expressed his interest in joining Salford before as he is a supporter of the club. I think having people like Ryan around the team can only be a benefit moving forward. You want people who have there heart in the club and give you everything and Brierley certainly is an exciting prospect for the future.

| No surprise since your coach is one of the worst man-managers around. He'll likely offload these star players, play out the rest of the season with a depleted squad and then blame 'circumstance' for the team's poor performances and make himself look like the victim.

| Even though Hock has been one of our best 3 players at the start of the season he needed to go after what happened against Saints and the abuse he put about on Twitter.
He is still one the best forwards in Super League on his day but he's had too many chances and now was the right time for him to leave.

| Possibly something to do with the fact he was banned for 7 games back end of last season, then 2 games in gets a 6 game ban, 13 in less than half a season not too great really.....can any team afford to carry some one like this, especially your top forward and highest earner when your trying to cement a team spirit and consistency with a starting 13.
Seems an amicable decision if tweets are anything to go by, although like most things further down the line things get said and a resentment builds.
The doc has probably lost a small fortune on releasing him early.
Just seems ones thing after the next at the moment, waiting with anticipation on the Locke announcement for the rest of the WUM's to come out of the forum wood work.

Could you give an example of how the coach 'is one of the worst man-managers around'? ( He does seem to have managed at Crusaders when it is now obvious some players were at loggerheads with him.The offloading of players signed by the previous coach appears to be a beneficial move on many levels.
He has also managed to man-manage the much maligned owner of the club who continues to support him.)
When he was the head coach for Ben Flower he,Flower, didn't get sent off in the first minute of a game. Will you be posting a similar whinge on the Wigan forum?
What 'circumstances' past or in the imagined future are you referring to? How will it be a depleted squad when the individual released was banned from playing, and gave the appearance of being disinterested in playing ,anyway?
