Come off it, you'd be sorry to see players like Kevin Locke, Junior Sa'u, Greg Johnson, Rangi Chase, Lama Tasi, Theo Fages, Gareth Hock, Jordan Walne etc go but not Steve Rapira.
He was our 6th best back rower at best, Hock, Walne, Ashurst, Dixon and Walton were better options. It was another of Nobles stupid signings, the bloke had played next to no games in the last two years previous. Don't get me wrong he wasn't the worst signings we've ever had, but he certainly wasn't Super League quality.
Yes his defence improved once Harris' came along, but so did 99.9% of the rest of the squads.

Because you think something,it doesn't make it correct! Bonita was sorry to see him go,so was I.
I suppose that means twice as many miss him than you do.
Rapira was an honest professional who was tough as teak, and always gave his all.
To say that Ashurst was a better option,is nonsense,as they are totally different style of players.
Please respect other peoples opinions!

| If we were in a war of attrition type game you'd have wanted Rapira as every hit he put in was fierce.
Someone like Ashurst was better if we had the upper hand and were cutting lose.
I for one am very surprised that Rapira hasn't stayed in SL as for many teams in the league he would have been a huge asset. I'd guess that he will end up in the top level again either in SL or the NR.

| I'm with JGR on this one, I honestly didn't see anything from him. A few big hits, but that was about it, no loss to us at all.

| Deary me you'd think Rapira was up there with the best after reading some of these comments. Perhaps that is the level of mediocrity we had been accustomed to over the last 15 years. He pulled on a Salford shirt and took to the field and he has my respect for that but I still stand by my earlier comments - 6th best, at best.
No doubt his injuries in 2011, 2012 and 2013 have hampered his career and his ability to perform at the highest level.
Also just for information, Matty Ashurst made 610 tackles last season in comparison to Steve Rapira' 302. He also only missed 21 of those tackles, whereas Rapira missed 28 of his. So much for all those fierce hits/tackles eh? Ashurst also got fixed up with another Super League club, whereas Rapira has just signed for a semi-professional Queensland Cup team.

| I agree with JGR, but obviously wish him all the best with Mackay Cutters.
the blame lies not with Steve but with Noble , Quota signings have to deliver more than you can get from your local signings & your home grown talent .
We got it right with Sa'u - Tasi, but with Rapira there was already both UK & club trained players who could do a better job.
Effort alone is no longer a prerequisite for wearing the famous red shirt, it needs to be alongside talent & fitness.

I'm pleased that he did because he was whole hearted but he wasn't up to the required standard for Salford

| Thought rapira improved as the season went on, which would be in keeping with a man with his injury record,i think his ability is top notch and i was sad to see him go
