There's a rumour going around that Lee Jewitt may be close to signing for Cas as a replacement for another former Salford player Ryan Boyle, who suffered a season ending injury over Easter.

Would you guys rate him? He's not a player I've seen much off, and I'd be curious to know whether you'd think he'd be a decent signing to cover the three props we've currently got out injured. I seem to think he headed over to play in France with Limoux since leaving Salford?

Solid performer. Hard worker. Still pretty young.

Solid without being spectacular. Prone to the odd brain fart, usually involving his fists.

I always thought he had potential to go on in the future to become a decent prop. I must admit haven’t seen or heard much of him recently so cant comment on his physical condition. Didn’t he go to France?

I preferred him overall to Boyle who was grossly unfit and overweight. I heard Jewitt's a teetotal and looks after himself very well.

My biggest criticism was he had a terrible habit of doing a silly foot shuffle before impact when carrying the ball and it did nothing more than slow him down. I am sure they must have tried to coach it out of him but I think he just did it instinctively, similar to how Fozzard used to jump into tackles.

He's not the most powerful running prop and would probably be one of your lowest metre makers but he’s tough though and never took a backward step.

That’s my honest opinion anyway for what it’s worth.

Always thought he had great potential and when you consider that a prop tends to mature later than players in other positions there is still time to fulfill that potential. Will go well if it is who you are signing and I'd bet that he will be there longer than just until the end of the season.

What gets me is Bradford are screaming out for players so why on earth haven't they unearthed someone like Jewitt, makes me wonder if the cash flow isn't quite what it is meant to be.

He's a better player than Boyle that's for sure

To be fair Boyle was our stand out forward at the end of last season - happy with Jewitt though and lets see what he can achieve with a good coach.
